The guy I would not give up is Harrellson. Shump is not doing anything next year, and lets face it. The kid was a gunner with uber athletic ability, but if the knee injury robs him of his lateral quickness, is he really much better than other SG we could get on minium deals. His athletism is his main skill and there is a big question mark as to whether he still has it.

Harrellson should real promise as a pick and pop guy and as a rebounder and banger. I would hate to just give him away. I would stand pat at given up one but not both.

Trust the Process

well to be fair he is 37 and is a 2 time mvp. Shump who i love is a great defender but doesnt have an offensive game and he suffered a very serious injury that who knows how long it may take him to get back to normal

Amar'e is 29. Tyson is 29. Melo is 28. This is a win now team. I hope to god Shumpert is a Knick next season, but I completely understand the logic of adding Nash while keeping Lin.

Nash / Lin
JR or Shump / Fields (Eff it, match fields)
Melo / Novak
Amar'e / Jeffries (i hope)
Tyson / Camby ($3M mle)

Lob City East. Let's go.

You are right. I mean i like shump but he will be a non factor next year and im not ok with possibly going to teh secodn round. We are a win now team unlike the Thunder who have many years. yes nash is older but he is always in good shape and fufills our biggest weakness which is a pg that can get the ball to amare, melo, novak. Also he will help lin develop quicker i feel

But at the end of the day it cripples us 2 years from now, when we'll be talking about the Knicks enormous payroll problems with Melo, STAT, Chandler, Nash, and Lin. Long term I guess you start thinking amnesty on Nash or Amare in case of injury, but all 5 will be in contract for the next 3 years, Melo has a player option in the 3rd, Lin will have a balloon payment year 3. Looking at around $82 Mill for those 5 guys alone in 2014/2015. I just hate this is not a long-term solution, only another win now, make money $$ event that might only bring in the latter.

If this deal happens and includes just ONE draft pick in the next 5 years with none in return, I might have to bow out as a Knicks fan

It seems like some are just content with possibly winning a round. Im not i want to go far and whether some want to admit nash gives us a better chance than shumpert will next year and i love shumpert

Poor defense in the backcourt and wrong coach. Thanks for playing, try again in a year when CP3 is available and we trade Nash for him.

Someone needs to sit Nash down and say this, "Your 38 years old and this is probably the last contract you'll sign as a player. You need to decide what's more important: playing for a championship or getting paid. If all you're looking for is to get paid then go spend the rest of your career toiling away in Toronto. If you want to try and win a championship here's what we can offer you. We will not offer you more if it means including Shumpert in a sign and trade; he's one of the few players in the league who can lock down an opposing team's pg, sg, and many sf. This is our offer, take it or leave it."
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Nash just please go to Toronto for the $12m per or Mavs

Please. They need to hurry up. If they trade a promising play like Shump for a 40 yr old Nash, I am not sure If I can support this team anymore.

Heres the problem shumpert is porbably a non factor next season he will be out most of the year and who knows how long it will take him or if he will be able to come back to form. We dont have that much time to win

You can't get a guy still playing at a Hall-of-Fame level for free. Shump is just an injured role player. This is still a steal.

Disagree, knee surgery today isn't like yesteryear...Shump may not be ready next season but guys are coming back stronger than ever across every sport...Harrelson barely played during the 18-6 run..Knicks aren't winning without strong perimeter defense and interior defense, not matter how many gunners they bring in...

Jmpasq wrote:If Shumpert was healthy I wouldnt do this deal but the Knicks are in win now mode and Shumpert isnt helping them in 2012-13.Im real torn on this because I think Shumpert has All Star upside however that injury could derail any hopes of him becoming that player.Trading a player like Shump is going to look bad when the Knicks are rebuilding with nothing in 3 years. I understand it but I really dont like it.

Win now, and in a few years then what. Isn't this win now attitude is what killed this team over the past 12 years. Trading the entire franchise for washed up players, and giving away all of our picks and pieces. No thank you. We need our young players. This team isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and if you trade the future, they will be nothing left to root for. Let face it. Miami is the best team in the NBA, and I don't see our team beating Miami E.C.F anytime soon. With Nash, this team still would be on their level. So why trade a player like Shump.

i think shumpert is a great defender which is why it would be tough to lsoe him. However he has offensive game and is injured often especially this latest injurt which is a bigtime injury. Sure he could came back from it but it will probably take a long time maybe a year or two
