Wowwwww..jjohnson to nets
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

2 pretty good bench players. They are easily top 5 in the east and if they add another big we have problems

Nets really screwed up with gerald wallace. howard would've been a Net right now. Howard also screwed himself over by not making up his mind during the season

Hmm... So what do people think of that's nets team? Wallace and jj are terrible contracts, but keeping brooks, Lopez and the Kardashian is important (they only have that 3mil exemption and no lle) to fill out the roster, and that will probably go on Kidd.

Could be trouble this season but hopefully jj and Wallace start declining fast.

Thats a big contract and differing reports saying it is either contingent or not contingent on D-Will resigning.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

Lets just say the Nyets failed miserably when they thought of the blue print to success

22-44 last year. Their major acquisition is Joe Johnson and they also retained Gerald Wallace. They also will obviously hope for better luck regarding injuries next year. I do not think this current roster is playoff level. If you rewind the clock 6 months, they were in a great position. They've managed to do just about everything wrong since then.

Also there goes the last bit of leverage dwight Howard had- nets have no cap space so he couldn't sign with them next offseason- he's screwed! He has to go wherever the magic trade him to, he's burnt all his bridges. What a complete disaster for him, his image is in absolute tatters and he has his back injury too. Guess he'll end up on the Rockets.

Serves him right too!

Joe Johsons contract is worse than Amare's it runs longer and for more money, He's a good player not great Nets don't know what the hell they are doing. I hope D-will bolts and Dwight is traded to Houston.
No layups!

And just like that Brooklyn says bye bye to Dwight and any hopes of real Championship contention...

The Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks have agreed to terms on a deal that will bring Joe Johnson to New York, sources told ESPN.com.

The deal is contingent on Deron Williams agreeing to stay with the Nets.

The Hawks, according to sources, would get Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, Jordan Williams, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson (via sign-and-trade) and the Rockets' 2013 lottery protected first round pick.

The Nets, in addition to Johnson, retain full $5 million mid-level exception (to sign Bosnian forward Mirza Teletovic) and $1.95 million bi-annual exception to keep adding to their roster.

Brooklyn would also keep MarShon Brooks and free agent Gerald Green, while convincing Atlanta to take a first-round pick (via Houston), in this deal, sources said.

The Nets had been involved in discussions to acquire disgruntled center Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic but sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard that the Magic front office "didn't want to dance" with the Nets.

Though Howard said Brooklyn is the only team that, were he to be traded there, he would sign an extension. The Nets were amenable to that earlier this year, before Howard elected to waive his opt-out clause with Orlando.

"Dwight blew it in March," a source told Broussard.

Ive read that in 2 different articles, but do the nets really have the full MLE and LLE? I thought they were under the cap going into this offseason. Doesn't that mean they have neither of those exemptions? They're only for teams over the cap. The only one the nets get is the new 2-3mil one that we used on JR last year, for teams that go from being under the cap to over in the same offseason.

Deron makes other players like johnson better so at the very least they have a great backcourt

Haven't been paying close attention, but why does this move automatically take them out of the Howard sweepstakes? Maybe i'm answering my own question here but it it because they dont have any more contracts to string together to equal that of Howards?

BTW, this was a clear salary dump for the Hawks? Is it going to be a fire sale in ATL?

Deron in Utah did. Deron of the past 1.5 years did not make anyone better.

Basically, the Joe Johnson trade is contingent on Deron signing with Brooklyn. If Deron resigns, then they cannot afford Dwight and don't have any real assets to trade with Orlando that they would covet(Remember Houston has all those picks and most likely be the trade partner).

From ESPN:

If the Johnson acquisition convinces Williams to re-sign with the Nets for a maximum deal of five years and $109 million, sources say that would close the door on Howard joining them.

MADE Humphries better, They have a solid rotation. They may be better then the Knicks. However Johnson and Wallace are just awful contracts they will be declining within 2 years

Why does Dwight have such a hard on for the nets? I mean I know he wants to play with D-Will but i've never seen a guy obsessed with playing for a team. I mean the nets are nit exactly a household name
