Foye is not a good player. He is a disaster waiting to happen.

We can't be picky. If he wants to come here for the vet min, I'm OK with that. We can't give him any portion of the MLE though.

Not the mle. The lle. Im movin away from spending the full mle and going over the luxury tax threshold because it will erase the limited reaources we have. No one other than nash whos out there is worth the full mle certainly not kidd. There are plenty of guys in the 2.5-3mil range

Foye is still young and has the potential to develop a better midrange game. Reason im leaning towards him is he is a better defender & 3pt shooter than belinelli and the greens. And a higher ceiling than courtney lee

Foye is a terrific fit for the Knicks. First, he's a very good on the ball defender ever since his days in Villanova. Second, he can light it up from 3 from the guard position which has been a weakness with the Knicks, JR's hot or not shooting aside. Would be a great pickup for the Knicks especially with the hole left by Shumpert's recovery.

With Eric Bledsoe back from injuries, Clippers don't have a need for Foye anymore.
Sounds like Cp3, wants Billups back, and they looked like championship contenders when Billups was on the floor.
Not sure if they will resign Nick Young, he is similar to JR Smith in some sense, but younger.
Mo Williams will not opt out of his contract, bigger chance of him getting amnestied before Blake Griffen's contract kicks in and Clippers won't be able to add talent to satisfy Cp3.

Cp3/Mo Williams/Bledsoe
Billups/Bledsoe/Young
Butler/Nick young

Clippers often used 3 PG lineup this year with the injuries with
Cp3, Mo Williams, Foye, Bledsoe, to help create shots for one another and break Memphis's defense down.
Using speed/quickness, the shooting ability and spacing, and penetration/handle helped break traps.
Their ability to penetrate, create, facilitate, get their shot off, and take pressure of one another.
Dallas did this when they won their ring with JJ Barea, Terry, Kidd, Nowitski *good handle and quickness for a 7footer*...
Detroit did it with Billups, Affalo, and Hamilton, and during The Bad Boys era too, for their 2 rings....

They were are all legit PG sizes, yet did not get killed defensively.
They are all very strong for their size but Bledsoe is the only really athletic/strong player of the group.
Foye usually had to guard the opponents SF, so he does have pretty good defense.

SGs that are RFA and UFA
===========================

Eric Gordon
Mayo
Foye
Billups
Ray Allen
Terry
Danny Green
Gary Neal

Are just some of the shooters available this summer.
I think JR Smith is looking to see what all the shooting guards get to justify what kind of contract he feels he deserves.
Watching Baron Davis and Iman Shumpert go down, should be a sign.
It would only be the smart thing for JR Smith to do what is best for his career.

Foye would be a great pickup. We just need someone who can spot up and keep the defense honest. And as a bonus, he is a capable PG for some minutes.

Hopefully we're not interested in Foye.

Great free throw shooter as well and solid 3pt shooter for his career. Those 2 reasons are enough to make him ur sg over fields. Then he becomes the perfect backup sg for shump. Foye and Novak on the bench draining 3yrs against 2nd units wow

The perfect player to slot in at sg to play along with melo, amare & lin. Cant play jr with those 3 guys ever. And Foye is a local kid. There's hope in the media after all other than pointing out the absurd obvious in getting nash for the mle to sell papers.

Give Foye the LLE & pray Kidd & odom both accept vet min deals and the roster is set to finish 2nd in the east and challenge the Heat. Avoid going over the luxury tax threshold this way

Praying is right. If Kidd and Odom take the vet min to be here I'd be ecstastic with almost anyone who can shoot from outside taking the $3M exception. Does Zwerling know what he's talking about or is he just making crap up as he goes along?

True but he can play the 1 for spells. I'm 100% up in the air on Foye. He's can shoot from 3 but his mid-range game is awful. Then again he'd get a ton of open looks.
I first said pass now I say I don't know. Wouldn't be the worst move.

It wouldn't be. Like you said he will get tons of open looks. the ones that fields bricked. He can just camp out at the 3pt line because lin, melo, amare and chandler will hopefully be doing the scoring inside. My only concern is that we need a capable backup pg like Kidd first and can't afford both with just the 3mil. If Lin was to miss any time we are finished if last year taught us anything. 3pt specialists can be had for the vet min

Can teams use both the MLE and LLE in the same off-season?

no one or the other. it depends on your cap situation. If over you only get lle under mle. pretty sure thats it. I'm just curious if resigning lin $5m, novak$3m and jr $2.8m puts us over?

So then if we offer Foye the LLE, we're basically saying he is our sole and key off-season addition. Eh that doesn't get me excited.
