So now I'm confused... Is this the lovers or hatters club?

I love the Knicks but hate Dolan but Dolan being owner will never stop me from supporting the squad or buying team gear for myself or my little guy. Steinbrenner was considered the most hated owner in sports until the Yankees started winnining like it was going out of style. When the Knicks finally win it all Dolan may not be lover but the tune will change greatly. Winning cures everything.

You know these are two entirely separate things though right? You don't have to pay Dolan to support the team. In fact, paying for him for starphucking may be the least supportive thing to do.

I remember as a kid watching the pilot for the sitcom "Laverne and Shirley". It was a spin off from the widely popular "Happy Days" starring "The Fonz".

"Laverne and Shirley" was crap I thought and would not make it.

It ran for years.

"Jersey Shore" is crap. Lots of crap on TV these days. In fact, there is a long ass list of shows that suck thru the history of TV.

But what may be crap might be hugely popular and if so, its profitable. Very profitable.

Knicks don't have to be championship caliber to be poplular or profitable. They have to have stars and be competitive.

Dolan needed Melo. Melo has star quality. That does not make him an alpha championship caliber player but he is an allstar and puts up a lot of points. He is a modern Bernard KIng for us.

This team is good enough to win 50 games and maybe even go on a tear to the ECF if it gets hot. But its not championship quality and I doubt with our core it can be. Good popular players who are stars.

Why then does Nalod follow? I don't know.

Maybe "faith" is like religion. "Faith" is defined as "an unsubstantiated belief".

We choose to believe.

or, "we won't get fooled again"!

I have nothing against following or rooting for the team - I don't think anyone here does now that a few posters were banned. But Dolan's gotta produce results first before I start paying him for Knicks-specific material like jerseys, hats, etc. There's nothing wrong with buying merchandise from a team but the owner should have to show he's doing something that warrants paying him. I'm not saying all or even many fans think this way but getting enough to is the only hope.

I'm a big Jim Dolan fan. Jim brought us Isiah, Marbs, Larry and Anucha and provided the best entertainment value in the NBA over the past decade. So yes, I will support Jim Dolan. I am going out to buy some season tickets right now.

Nope Knicks. And I'll be wearing my #55 Josh Harrellson Jersey.

I don't see how this can possibly work, but I want a slot in the signature, so I'm in.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think if people realize and know the reason the knicks are dysfunctional is because their owner goes with yes men rather than smart, independent thinkers, then that is a start.

The fact is, nothing will lead Dolan to sell the team until he is ready to, and it might be for estate reasons only that I see as a reason for him to sell.

Basically, its his death that we need to pray for

Kidding aside, I'll continue to watch the games, and hope for the best, but my emotional investment is becoming less and less, and the Brooklyn Nets could really supplant the Knicks as the NY team over a generation should they get lucky and build a solid team, though that does not appear to be happening.

The problem is not Dolan being an owner but him being into bbal.
He interested in the game (obviously he has no understanding of it) and has some bbal friends (Isiah) and bunch of bureaucrts from bbal field using his money.
The only hope he will get fedup with bbal in general ang get interested in curling or waterpolo. Or at least will like bbal like he likes hockey... :)

He has plenty of understanding of it. He knows how to starphuck and bring in a lot of immediate cash.

He defines the category of " knowing just enough to be dangerous".
I agree with Franco12, I feel less and less passionate about this team each season. I am thinking it will soon be time for me to start ignoring pro basketball altogether. DDGAS.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Less passionate about this team? Yes. But I love watching guys like Lebron and Durant play still.
