From what I saw HELL YES!!! Lin answered a lot of questions. Could he run a team? could he shoot consistently well? Could he defend (I know he wasn't always solid, but he had some eye opening defensive performances too. His D on Brandon Jennings was amazing late in one game we played the Bucks)? Is he a clutch performer? Could he handle the pressure of NY? I think he grew a lot and has a TON of upside in terms of him learning the game and limiting mistakes. When healthy teams had to focus their entire defense on him to try and keep him from being effective. Mostly it didn't work!!!

I for one will not be upset AT ALL if they sign Lin to a long term deal worth more than $5 mil the first year and he's a complete bust. It's a chance any GM should make given the circumstances and the possibilities.

Again, any thought that we should not sign him is based on some sort of expectation of him being a savior.

And yes, if he is a bust it was a risk worth taking. We have done far worse than sign a good kid who works his ass off and is a genuine type good teammate.

I doubt we get a "Linsane" run but the kid if a solid 14-7 with 2 turn overs per game would go a long way to helping this team. We know he does not buckle under pressure.

Yup. It seems if you ask people making $20M a year to play both sides of the ball and win some games for us you are asking for way too much, but if a guy with total of 25 games experience in the NBA cant put 25-12 per game, he isn't even worth 5M. Talk about double standards!

Melo is my favorite player but no he doesnt deserve up to $19 mil...but please lets not forget STAT whos making just as much and is not playing as well as Melo. the reality is that were stuck with these overpaid contracts. With Lin theres some flexibility..and itll determine how much we can spend in off season

And that is exactly why they're having the hearing. What you said is absolutely right, and we have to hope that the arbitrator realizes that this is something that slipped through the cracks that contradicts the agreements in the CBA.

But it's in black and white on paper which is why no one is giving this much of a chance to turn out pro Union/Knicks.

The nba's stance is the black and white....but the players union's stance is laid out perfectly by knicks1248....hope someone pleaded the case the exact same way to the arbitrator.
