What should the Knicks do and why?
Re-sign and keep in starting lineup at the 2.
Re-sign and designate to 6th man role.
Re-sign and just give him bench role player status.
Let him find another team.

That pretty much sums it up for me. Well said.

We may need more but we can't get more.

I was reading it more as we need more from Fields if we keep him. Hope it's a productive offseason.

Yeah, that makes more sense.

How can we believe he will bring anything more to the table. He did nothing to improve his shooting last off-season. In fact his shooting got worse, which makes me question his work ethic. Can anyone name any tangible improvement that he actually made between years 1 and 2. Shooting didn't seem any better, neither did his ball handling which, as a 2guard, needs to be better.

As of right now, he is Shandon Anderson with less defense.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

which is why he probably will only get a min offer of $1M, and at that price you keep him and see what happens and how he develops.

Didn't we already go through that? I know I said what I thought he improved upon. He did make it a priority to improve his conditioning and his athleticism from what I saw.

And how are you gonna question his work ethic? You have no idea what he did or did not do. Neither do I but know he worked on his hops, that's for sure.

because improving ones leaping and conditioning is great if hes a long jumper but in the NBA jumping ability and conditioning alone is not a tangible benefit. It didn't truly help in any aspect of his game. Sure he got maybe 1 or 2 dunks every few games and was less likely to get tired but, it did nothing to improve his efficiency or value.

Any time a rook comes back into his 2nd year the same player or worse, you have to wonder about his work ethic. I'm not saying he has a bad work ethic but, one has to wonder.

It does help when you have PG like Lin looking for someone he can trust at the rim. You make good points though. He needs to get on his offseason likes he's preparing for the olympics.

I like brining Fields back as a bench/role player for the right price. Last season may have just been a sophmore slump. He needs to undo whatever the heck he did last off season to his jumper and FT.

Had to kill Spike deep inside to be forced to wear a Fields jersey all year to keep from looking stupid and not switch to Shump or Lin. Although he did wear Lin's high school and harvard uni's. I remember Spikes reaction when Fields was drafted. Utter Disdain then he changed his tone once he realized he was being disrespectful to one of his own. Not that he knew Fields was going to be garbage but hindsight his reaction was appropriate

I rather keep Fields, I rather have a players Good rebounding n defense then a broken 3pt shot that he will improve.

We might need Fields to start at the 2 until Shump is healthy. After that, he can back up the 2 and 3. I think 3 is his natural position.

I know some of the Landry-haters are gonna talk ish about this point, but Landry has been available for 148 games and he has played 148 games. Durability. Commitment. And he has openly said he wants to stay with this club. He's got faith. The club has faith in him. We should too. But he's got some work to do.

Sign him for 2-3 mil.hes not as bad as he looked this yr. Again i think he depends on a solid pg. Hes a fast break player who excels in transition.
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

unfortunately for Fields he has done nothing to earn $2-3M next year. He'll be offered a 1-year deal at around $1M.

Fields' decline in rebounding numbers was expected, but the main disappointment was his 3-point shooting. The guy was a 38% 3-point shooter as a rookie and was looking like the ideal role player. Where did his shooting go? I think he can still recover and turn into a good starting SG or 6th man, averaging 10 ppg and 5 rebs, but must get the 3-point shooting back up. As a spot up shooter there is no reason he can't be 40%.

hopefully allan houston can work with him on his shooting arc. His rookie season landry had a decent shot so ther is no doubt that it can be corrected. I think if he can get that straight then he will be very valuable to us while shump is out

His defense was totally suspect and his rebounding, if you check severely tailed this year. If he's not even giving us that, then why waste a roster spot on this guy. I have said it and will keep saying it, we can get a d-league player who will give us more at the 2than Landy (aka Shannon Anderson) Fields.
