Further, during this same stretch the Knicks were the best defensive team in the league. Woodson has earned the job. Obviously, Phil would be great but I have no complaints about stability and a great defense that Woodson would bring.

I also laugh at people claiming Woodson relies too much on iso as if Kobe and Michael Jordan were not getting massive amounts of iso and regularly shooting over double and triple teams. SMH!

I have to laugh at people that use Kobe and Jordan in the same sentence as StarMelo.

I laugh when people say Kobe and Jordan in the same sentence regardless of the 3rd variable.

I am feeling increasingly crummy-er about this. Did they or didnt he reach out to Pjax? I like Woodson but at the back of my mind there are worries about his ability to coach offense and also the nagging notion of Woody + Grunfeld = Return of the snake. If I so muc as even smell that two bit POS manipulating things behind the scenes, it will be the last thing I do as Knicks fan.

Jackson's in his late sixties. If he does coach again, it won't be for long. Woodson's a good coach and could give this team continuity along with his defensive skill. He did well when he took over from MDA and, with a healthy pg, I think he could do well in the playoffs.

They are all iso oriented players on the offensive side of the ball. Phil Jackson has a history of allowing his top scorers to iso. So, complaining about Woodson iso while yearning for Phil Jackson is kind of odd to me. Phil is the better coach but you are still gonna get iso melo in large amounts with either coach.

I am sure the threat of losing you (or me) really scares them

I do feel queasy about this as well. I think we will find out in a few months that PJax turned them down in a secret meeting

I never believed there was any chance of him coming here anyway. Anyway, who needs him when we have Woody?

This will be the best coaching hire since JVG.

If Phil Jackson comes back I'd rather see him on the opponent's bench. When I see Phil I still see red.

for me there is a huge difference between iso ball that Phil played and what Woodson has been able to demonstrate, but it's also probably not fair to compare the 2 directly because the players each have had are on different levels.

Pure iso ball is necessary to have on any team, especially for closing out games - even more so in the playoffs. It's what happens over the long haul of the season and how other players on the team are integrated and how dominate - often times to the detriment of others on the team - that iso ball is favored.

It's funny. There are two types of people supporting Woody here. One group has insulated themselves thinking Woody is beeter than Pringles so that means we don't need to look further. The other group thinks Phil can't do it, or won't or they don't like him because he coached the bulls so we need tokeep Woody. Between people disqualifying Prngles and people disqualifying PJax everyone is convinced Woody is the man for the job because he won 15 regualr season games??!!?!?!? LOL

Martin, how do you feel about hiring woodson? And do you think Melo is just Marbury 2.0?

Woodson won 18 games out of the 24 he coached despite adversity. Its hard not to dismiss the previous guy who won 18 games out of the 42 he coached. I don't think Jax was coning out of retirement anyway but I am not sure how you can trash Melo as a coach killer and then expect Jax to jump back into things to coach him.

I like his rotations, the emphasis on defense, his demeanor on and off the court, the constant communication with players, the respect they seem to have for him, and the goatee.

But mostly the goatee.
