Our team is built around flawed players and there isnt a team concept that can cover them

While Melo has played Lebron well in the past I think there are a couple of pretty glaring differences now:
1) Lebron is a much more gifted athlete
2) Lebron obviously takes much better care of himself physically
3) Lebron has DWade
4) Lebron has something to prove, it seems like Melo is a little complacent

Melo is not in as good of shape, relies too much on his natural ability and does not appear to work as hard on his game as he is capable of (though he has made great strides on the defensive end this year, he has regressed in the post season on the offensive end).

They are very different players, I think with the right supporting cast Melo can lead a team but I think everyone here can agree we do not have that.

The Knicks actually have plays with lots of movement that would work better and give open looks to Novack. They ran one curl for Melo and he iced an open jay. They didn't set any screens for Novak and he is more than capable of catching the ball and shooting after getting good screens. Woody abandoned that offense!

Yeah - I guess thats the "only" reason that their "D" worked

You can mock it all u want but the Knicks made it easier for the Heat! If u think it's of no consequence whether you have good ball and player movement verses just standing still and going ISO then there's no need talking to u cuz you don't know squat!!! You offer nothing to refute what I'm saying and it doesn't mean the Knicks would win just by executing better but they have NO CHANCE if they don't play better team oriented offense.

amar'e certainly made it easier for the heat by punching a piece of glass. the knicks have nothing left. second, third, fourth leading scorers all done for the year. and melo is still called selfish. SMFH

Who called Melo selfish? This is on Woody. Melo can't beat the Heat by himself so some kind of plan to get others off was needed. Lebron and Wade don't even need help and yet they get picks set for them to get easier shots and they used them to gain an edge and setup open teammates. The is what MDA had in mind for Melo too. Melo got what he wanted and so what can he say except he couldn't hit the many shots he did get and his team needed him to hit.

Stop kidding yourself. Melo is a selfish player.

I believe this is on Melo too, because he forced his style on this Knicks team, this is the way he wanted from day one, as far as Woody, keeping Melo happy is the only way for him to return next year.

Lebron was NOT a good defensive player his first 3-4 years in the league. Thats something he has worked on and strived for and its made him the best player in the NBA, without a doubt. Wouldnt it be nice if our stars had that same drive? Rich man's Al Harrington indeed. We need to load this roster up with guys who defend... like the Bulls have

Guys...the Knicks will finally have a "good" team at the "wrong" time, once again. Every year moving forward we will lose to the Heat. Lebron James, although a big f'n baby, is a basketball god. If he wanted to, he could probably take defenders to the basket each and everytime he touches the ball. Unlike our superstar, he gets others involved and picks his spots. He is probably the most well rounded player ever to play the game. Moreover, the Heat's defense is like a blanket...they close out on shooters faster than any team I have seen play.

its on Lin and Shumpert to become great players. That would be the thing that changes the fortune. Otherwise you 1000% correct. Knicks are at BEST set up to be 3rd in the conference behind the Heat and the Bulls. Would have been 4th but who knows what happens w/ Dwight Howard

Even if we do load the roster like Chicago, Melo has to learn to be more discipline on offence and more dedicated on defense, for us to have a chance in the near future. That 1 against 2 or 3 defenders is not going to make it in the playoffs once the opposing defense prepares. Hopefully after this embarrassment, Melo is more willing learner.

I saw so many times when Melo was in the mid range area and got doubled that Novak was open. Melo had his head down, was dribbling to get even closer and generally miss. Why not use the doubles to create shots for Novak or others? I mean this is also on Woody. At least we would have had some open shots if Melo had been a bit creative and used what Miami gave him as a consequence of the doubles.

Novak could also run around the court to get open instead of just standing behind the 3PT line. The guy is useless unless he's wide open.

I love it. MDA is here its a 3 point chucking team. Now we can get Novak shots. Ahh... life in Knick land.

Thats what happens when you are moved up on the scouting report list. Novak came out of nowhere, now teams are aware of him. Obviously, the best defensive team in the league are not going to let him get off shots, especially with our 2, 3, and 5th best scoring options not in the game. Not only that, but its easy to get off shots when you play the Bucks on Tuesday, and the Nets on Wednesday, and the Cavs on Friday. Its much harder to get into your comfort zone when you are playing the same team for 4 straight. Especially when that team is the best defensive team in the league.

Listen, no more ****ing excuses for this guy. He was medicore last year in the playoffs except for one game and he has sucked this year. Lebron shuts him down completely and still has energy to out score our entire team.

Again, we could have put up a better effort and grabbed Tyson Chandler in the offseason without trading our entire team and watching one go isolate and kill team basketball.

We lost the trade. Swept two years in a row with no cap room.

Lebron also sat on the bench for the entire 3rd and come into the game with fresh legs ro start the 4th! Could have, would have, should have, blah, blah, blah. The team is the team.

Beating Miami at full stregth would have been hard enough. We don't have our starting PG, SG, or PF but lay in Melo?

Going into next year we have

Chandler
STAT
Melo
Shump
Lin

Maybe we bring back some pieces from this years squad maybe we don't but add a few others. This team has talent we just caught a bad break this year as we did last year. I think the future looks bright.

Too much ISO for Dirk and not enough ball movement IMHO

No, they are still celebrating their last championship run. CHAMPIONS.

This is why its safe to compare Melo to Kobe.

Because he steps up big when we need it most.

thank you. Woodson pulled him aside yesterday to get on him for pulling up for a fade-away jumper instead of driving to the basket when he had a clear lane. Dude needs to expand his game.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Team basketball?? the ****ing TEAM shot a combined 25% from the field!!!!! THE BASKETBALL TEAM SUCKED DOG SHIT LAST NIGHT IN THE SECOND HALF.

Positives: Alba tourney is on the way. The sun is still shining here in NJ. We now have the possibility of an incredible comeback! We set one pathetic record, and could turn it into a positive!
