Even a deal like Ellis and Gooden for Amare and filler would be addition by subtraction.

Well, I wonder if the mods are going to shut this thread down because any talks about Lin being traded always gets shut down. I've said this since the beginning. Lakers have Lin name on their trade list and is waiting for the right moment to strike. If NYK is wishy washy about him, they're going to lose Lin.

Let em have Lin. Give us Sessions. Done deal.

Sessions on this current team would just compound the problem. We need a shooter at PG.

He's a very good player, but even if he wasn't all that good, it would still, for any team, make sense to pay the guy. He'll make your money back and more.
Ya I dont think Lin even cares about the money i think he would take less in order to keep novak. As a point guard i like lin's game a lot and feel that it will make life easier for melo who can concentrate on scoring and not having to facilitate the offense

If you get injured on the job, and you have the options of taking more money than you've ever made in your entire career, you're going to be willing to take less to make sure some other guy is employed? Thats not even smart.

If it's about winning, and the move ultimately helps you win, then that's very smart. I wouldn't say it's unselfish because ultimately it helps one move ahead. And it's not as though Novak would be unemployed, it's about securing him if he's the best option out of what's available. Sometimes you gotta give a little to get a little. And as far as an NBA contract, he's not going to be making star money anyway...I have a feeling if this kid keeps up even a decent level of pay, he's gonna make bank from endorsements. So if he's willing to take a hit to win, I'd say that's a pretty decent thing to do. This is all hypothetical anyway...

The organization where I am...we all gave up raises for the past 3 years to keep everyone employed and the higher tiers were also furloughed. Our workload didn't double, everyone's getting a check, everyone wins. It's not a bad idea.

That being said, I do understand where you're coming from because we have three huge contracts where a million here or there wouldn't make a dent but when you talk about the size of Lin's contract it would be a significant percentage.

thank you.

Morons.

I dont think they are morons they just dont like lin for whatever reason. I mean he got injured but it happens sometimes it doesnt mean his is done i mean he is only 23 and is almost healed

Knicks are trying to win a championship now. We already wasted 2 years. So we are supposed to waste another year and hope Lin can produce for 82 games. Knicks dont have the luxury of time on our hands.

And the one player you decide to pick on is the one (and only) Knicks PG that has been playing consistently and optimally at his highest level. I don't know what else Lin needs to do to prove anything to a clown like you. Do you want him to show up and cook dinner for your entire family?

Are you freaking serious? What do you think Lin's been doing before he got injured? you think he was just sleeping on the court? Ungrateful, moronic fans.

You must be one of those annoying Knicks fans that just bitch about everything.

i don't know if you can do a sign and trade of Lin and trade him with another person. a sign and trade can only include the guy who is signing.

knicks will sign Lin.

maybe by the trade deadline next year Lin and Amar'e will be trade bait. or maybe it'll all work out! knowing the knicks, they'll probably be trade bait.

Trade baits it is. Knicks wouldn't want to risk increasing the value of Lin. Greedy ass management doesn't deserve a championship. The fact is, Lin has produced superstar numbers and he's getting paid peanuts for it.

If I were a GM and one of my lowest salary player was playing at a superstar level, I'd be jumping for joy too.

He is only profitable if he continues to play well, otherwise he will fade and people will move on to the next hot thing. I'm not saying he won't be good, but there are definitely questions on his durability.

Interesting. Why are there questions about Lin's durability and not someone like Shumpert's, for example?

Sessions looks good with Kobe, Pau and Bynum.

Sessions is not a good shooter.

We not running SSOL but until the offense changes we still need a point who can shoot.

Does Lin have upside? How do we manage his minutes? How do we keep him from falling as much?

How does he improve?

Lin was never getting in front of Monta or Curry in Golden State.

We're still running SSOL actually: the goal for our PGs is to get it across half-court in seven seconds or less.

Lin is a keepper is there ever was one. The kid can flat out play. I can't belive there are some here who are willing to trade him! I'm not even going to go into his numbers as a starter but take a look at his season averages!

14.6 PPG
6.2 APG
3.1 RPG
1.6 SPG
44.6 FG %
32% 3PT %

He's only 23 and will get better. Why in the hell is it with Knicks fans! Many have the habit of looking elsewhere for what we need when what we need is already here!

James Dolan cares about selling tickets. Jeremy Lin sells tickets, and jerseys, and hats, and anything else you stick his face on.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I can't believe people aren't willing to spend the MLE on Lin, considering how much we spend on other "talents"

This guy just had basically his rookie season, and put up this kind of number, and you guys are ready to just give up on him? We talk about getting excited for homegrown talent, this guy went from a dleaguer to a legitimate starter in front of our eyes. He has great work ethics, and great personality, definitely worth the MLE. I understand we are trying to win now, but why would a player like Nash want to come to the Knicks if he is trying to win a championship before he retires, lets be serious, we aren't that good, and now without Dantoni there really isn't any appeal. We can say "because we are NYC..", look at all the MLE targets that flirted with us and ultimately chose somewhere else.

It boggles my mind that people only point out that Lin is here only for ticket sales, the dude can ball. TBH, I'm not even that big of a Lin fan, I think his ball-handling is suspect, and his playmaking is average. But there's also no doubt in my mind he is our best option at PG (now and the future), and I have no doubt with a summer to work on his game he will become much better. Worst thing about Linsanity is that we now hold Lin to this extremely high standard, we overlook a lot of Shumpert's shortcomings and trust that he can improve with time, so why not Lin?
