if he really is out next game, it's probably addition by subtraction because amare is just a detriment right now.

Was Amare really this bad tonight? I don't think so. He certainly needs to be much better defensively, but the guy just never got the ball. Melo took 26 shots Amare took 9. You cannot get Amare Stoudemire only 9 shots. He scored 18 pts- meaning 2 for every time he shot. That's pretty freaking good. He is an efficient scorer and we have yet to figure out a way to use him with Carmelo Anthony on the floor.

des for every basket that amare scores, he gives up defensively.

maybe he wasn't that bad tonight, maybe i'm just tired of seeing the crap from him. i can't watch him stand under the hoop defensively while a player drives right past him for an easy bucket. i wanna see him give a hard foul just once or make a play on the ball.

No one would've made that statement last year, when Amare was the primary option and averaging 27ppg on better than 50% shooting. He was just as bad defensively last year too. Its highlighted more when he doesn't get shots. If he scores the way he can score (and in the 6 games he's been back and the 6 or so games prior to his injury, he has shown that skill), then no one's talking about kicking him to the curb.

He's just today's whipping boy the way Melo was in the first half of the year. The reality is both have their readily apparent flaws. Melo was a total ball stopper today- I don't care that he scored 30 pts, he barely looked to set anyone up and took a number of bad shots. To compound things he totally pouted after every play and didn't get back on D at all more than a half dozen times. In the 2nd quarter when he was out of the game was probably our best offensive stretch.

That being said we know what he can do - we saw it when Amare is out, he totally carried us and played an all around game. Just like before the Melo trade, Amare carried us. Both of these can do it, we just can't figure out how to make it work.

But we can't overreact because we are losing to the Heat. Its freaking Lebron James and Dwayne Wade. They are both built like brick houses, run 4.4 40's and have 40 inch verticals. When they are on their game you have to execute perfectly to compete.

Amare played better D last year. Gave more effort. Just look at all the block shots and rebounding #s. The team and the coach on the other hand

Berger reported that paramedics rushed into the Knicks locker room after the game to attend to Stoudemire after he punched a fire extinguisher's glass enclosure outside the arena's tunnel entrance to the locker room just "seconds" after he left the court following the loss. Witnesses to the incident reported that there was "a lot of blood."

Following the incident, Berger reported that Stoudemire left the arena through a security exit with his "left hand bandaged and [his] arm in a sling."

It's a little fugazy if you ask me. Where was the anger on the court when the whole team looked disinterested and just jacked up shots?

bro im not some johnny-come-lately, i been raggin on amare going back to last year for his dreadful defensive effort. i understand the guys been through a lot this year, but once you're on the court, you're out there to do a job. he's gotta start improving some other aspects of his game if he's asked to take a backseat to melo offensively. giving guys free layups doesn't cut it for me.

We can find reasons to hate every player if we want. We did it with Melo, we're doing it with Amare. The guy was worth every penny when he was getting 27 a game, had us with our first winning record in a decade and actually had people wanting to talk about coming to NY.

He's not a bum. He's certainly not a good defender, but people aren't looking at him with a clear lens. Did the same with Melo. We've got a good player on the team, we've got to figure out how to make this work.

This team is imploding physically and mentally.

Self destructive now?

Unbelieveable.

Melo will get thrown out of the game and wills Smile.

We need the Zen master to get the Gong, incense and some tantric yoga for these guys.

Unbelievable. Amare couldn't have just freakin thrown something?? What is it with men..why hit things??? It makes no sense. I've always given him the benefit of the doubt about his struggles this season but it was killing me how he was unable to put a hand up in a guys face who was a foot away from him on defense. That's the least one can do.

But to hear this??? This is so unlike him!! Completely unacceptable. I don't care how angry or passionate you are. Honestly, as much as I sympathize with him, he needs to be fined by the Knicks. That's a 100,000,000 investment that he intentionally, even if it was in the heat of the moment, jeopardized. And btw that's a very generous HUNDRED MILLION UNINSURED DOLLARS that they risked on him. He might not even need a suspension if he has muscle, nerve or ligament damage (its hard to imagine ligament damage unless the laceration is nearer to the wrist or knuckle on the side of the hand but I guess its still speculation). I doubt he wanted to seriously hurt himself but this was a terrible decision. You don't f'in punch glass. You just don't. He has to be smarter than that. We know he is.

I hope the injury isn't serious. He's def. still struggling mentally with everything that happened this year and I'm sure as much as we complain he's gotta be feeling horrible about the poor play and now worse about this idiotic act.

It kinda of reminds me of Plaxico shooting himself except he waited until after he had a ring damnit!!! All the players we shell out the big $$ for get hurt...in no way shape or form should a player be the one doing it to himself in this kind of manner.

See you guys upset at Amar'e is missing the bigger picture. He took one for the team. He knows the team is better with Melo at the 4. So he just wanted to take the pressure off of Woodson. Watch STAT come off the bench.

That's sickening but yes it is better than that. Violence is never good. Not when it's directed towards others or oneself.
