Fair. Whut about that dude he kept a spreadsheet about all his online dates? Weird, wild stuff.

Sure. Who doesn't? How do you know if your re-cyber dating for nothing?

Lame. He should have used Access instead of Excel.

mysql

Nah. He's obviously a windoze user.

Linux runs on Windows

Yes, but your average user doesn't want to set up a dual boot system or install VMWARE or Virtual box just to run database software. It is true that you can run MYSQL on Windows, but I think for an end-user trying to do data analysis, the UI tools in Access are a better choice

Access vs. Mysql = MDA vs. Melo (in that order). I like it.

You don't need a dual boot or VMWARE to run MySql on windows. You can run it as a windows service.

THIS IS FUN!!

You obviously didn't read my whole response, and you did say "linux runs on windows" Perhaps I took you too literally?

Anywah - not that I'm a big Access fan, but to my knowledge MYSQL doesn't have a built in report-writer and visual query builder. Remember we are talking about an Windows end user here. He's probably already got Microsoft Office. Oh well. I cannot believe I am here advocating that someone use Access, but there it is. Of course, I'm making assumptions about this guy. Otherwise, why not Sqlite?

SQL Server is good, as is MYSQL, Postgresql and Sqlite. I've never had occassion to use Oracle.

-1 from your geek score. It is stil open-source though.

Sun bought MYSQL, then Oracle bought Sun.

Not unless you start a thread stating that you are against them. Sybase?

Expanding this post because this thread has become an exercise in irrelevant penis waving.

Gallo sucks. Get over it. Here's Gallo's triple double:
