Just not a big game player. Last years playoffs spoke volumes about Fields. He can't play like this he had to start going at teams hard in big games and that doesn't mean playing scared. You can no longer be overwhelmed by teams you are playing.

Where did I say that any tension I perceive had an effect on Fields' shot?

I think Fields needs to toughen up. The talent is there but he 'thinks too much'. It's a common problem.

However, it may or may not be worth noting that the totality of Fields' perfomance might show a stark contrast with Melo on the court, to that of his performance with Melo off the court.

Nonetheless, he needs to get over whatever it is and play better.

Lin won't help him fix his Dudley-like shot. And his shot is not horrible because of any Melo tension. C'mon.

Well then we need a SG who can shoot and who has the stones to play with Melo. That is obviously not Fields.

If his awful 3pt shooting was his only problem, we'd be fine...

Fields is hands down the worst player in the Knicks rotation and will be destroyed by whoever we meet in the playoffs. Aside from decent cutting ability, what does he do well on a consistant basis?

At least Jefferies plays particularly good defense all the time...

The poor rotations, bricked free throws and going up soft is getting annoying. And the stuff about Melo being on the court impacting his play, makes it even more difficult. Really, what are we supposed to do bench Melo? Just shows me he's not a NY kinda guy...

If Shumpert can't stay on the floor for 30+ minutes, the Knicks are in for a short series against Chicago or Miami.

Bibby and Douglas are the worst players in the rotation.

He is too smart. We need dumber players who don't think so much.

My biggest fear is Amare returns and Fields goes back to starting SG with Shump playing limited minutes off the bench. The season would end right there

I wouldn't fear this. Woodson has proven that even if Fields starts and Shump does not, coach trusts Shump with a LOT more minutes than Fields.

It is hard to understand. He is a bright guy that worked on his game and hired a shooting coach and regressed to the point where he shouldn't be in the rotation. I think the Knicks should re-sign him but his role may need to change. Landry is too smart, too talented and too high character of a guy to let slip away without giving him the q.a. and planning on matching it if it is reasonable.

Smarts can help with many things but I don't think shooting is one of them. Dudley was a genius.

Dudley even aimed the ball better than Fields. Ask Shaq.

(There was an incident in which Dudley was dunked on by Shaq. Dudley threw the ball at him in anger.)
