So if we hire a coach with a ring, its like we won one also!

Larry got one.

Woodson was his assistant.

MDA got a gold metal with Melo.

D'Antoni's a one-sided coach. Which means he's not good. Maybe he'd make a good coaching assistant to a more complete head coach. He can just worry about fastbreak, open court basketball. But he'll never be a good head coach. Accept it and move forward.

He seems to be a good point guard coach on the offensive end. Maybe he could be the head point guard coach with a defensive assistant for a team.

Even without a true Center and with poor defenders like Nash and STAT, MDA's teams were never bad defensive teams. As for coaching only PG's, there are a litany of other position players that played for MDA and performed at a higher level than they did previously or after playing for him. The one thing you can't accuse him of is not coaching his entire team up. A lot of NBA role players got bigger pay days because of MDA. Even here when the stars were out MDA was able to get a lot out of the role players we have. He's developed young players as well, despite what a lot of haters say.

It's all good that there are so many resident MDA haters and detractors. It doesn't really matter in the end. You can all talk ish and pull out all the lies, distortions of the truth and overstated cliches you want. The truth is he's gonna get another job and he'll have a chance to continue his career as he should. MDA is a solid coach and his time here has damaged his reputation much like it has many other good coaches.

He always had 3-4 all stars in Phoenix including one who won the mvp twice.. None were centers but he also said centers slowed down the offense. Those were the days of Nash, STat, the Matrix and for awhile Joe Johnson. When he had a top 2 center, a top 2 small forward and a top 5 power forward he went 18 and 24 even with a 7 game win streak. Amnestying the point guard to get the top 2 center was cited as his demise by some. Also he lost at a tremendous rate in NY. Its not hate, its recognizing a rigidity to a system that won't win a championship even if you have 3 of the ten best players in the league playing for you.
