Sloan was uber-respected by the media. Guy got Utah into the playoffs practically every year and he did it often with b-list players like Howard Eisley and Shannon Anderson (wow, I actually regret having to remember those names)

They have Media in Utah?

he's the total opposite of MDA!! let's hire him. hold on...

WAIT A MINUTE!!!

I like him as a coach very tough on his players, I would like to see Melo's face the minute the Knicks hire him. LOL

I like Sloan because he is felxeible within his system. There were years where he didn't have a dominate low post player but he managed to play to the strengths of guys like Kirilenko and Matt Harpring to get the best out of them. He was able to adjust enough to let guys like Howard Eisley and Raul Lopez look good. I don't know if he has the stomach for NY, but I would take him in heartbeat over and a lot of other coaches who are still in the league for some inexplicable reason.

not 100%sure about that since he and Deron both said it had nothing to do with his resignation and, considering how long he spent with Utah, I can't see Deron forcing him out.

The best thing about Sloan (unlike our present coach) he actually teaches. The fundamentals they displayed over his tenure is just amazing.

+1 Fundamentals something the Knicks haven't been thought for over 11yrs. Larry Brown doesn't count cos he was a little extreme and marbs n franchise had no hope

I don't know how we can take this Jerry Sloan stuff seriously.

Diva Deron Williams ran the guy out of Utah. I don't think he would want to coach an ever bigger Diva in Melo.

Makes no sense to me.

We have to face reality: this isn't a roster that guys are lining up to coach.

Agreed. No self-respecting coach will sign up for this. Get ready for Mike Woodson to be the coach opening day next season.

While retired Lakers and Bulls coach Phil Jackson has frequently been named as a possible successor to D'Antoni, sources close to retired Utah coach Jerry Sloan say he would be interested in the position. Sloan retired abruptly in February 2011, and was pursued by a number of teams during the summer before resisting the recruiting efforts. In an interview with SI.com in early January, he said he was considering a return.

I would LOVE Sloan - gritty defense, runs a mean pick and roll (meaning Lin would stay).

It'd be funny if the Knicks appealed to Sloan because it'd mean he could stick it to Deron.

Don't normally take too much stock in rumors like this, but Sam Amick is a pretty respected, no nonsense writer for Sports Illustrated.

Yeah, I just read this somewhere else as well. I wouldn't mind this choice one bit.
