Main problem with Lin is Melo breaks the offense, floats in from the three point lane - crowds the paint. Lin needs space, Melo is selfishly breaking the offense and demanding the ball. I know I'll be called a hater for saying this, but it's what I see. Amar'e does it, too.

Either MDA doesn't know how to space the floor with Melo and Amar'e and Lin and Chandler yet, or someone is breaking that spacing. I've seen examples of Melo doing it several times with Lin on the floor. Kills the spacing, Melo demands the ball, kills the flow. The offense comes untracked, other team goes on a run, gets some confidence, Melo and Amar'e don't defend because they're mad they aren't scoring, and so on.

You put Novak in the starting lineup instead of Amar'e or Melo and the Knicks starting unit will be 100 times better. Don't act like Novak is a worse defender than Amar'e or Melo. Novak at least hustles.

unfortunately, he is. Melo and Amare play OK man defense. it's their help defense and concentration that sucks.

Nokav may hustle, but his man D is almost non-existant.

You can't start Novak.

I agree 100%. Especially about concentration. Their heads are not in it at all times. That's just something g they have to actively fix during games. I think both Melo and Amare show effort but they get out of it on the Defensive end.

The only hope if Mike is gone is that Melo and the guys get in more of a comfort zone on O and whoever takes over doesn't put up with crappy D. If we can get into a groove over the last 25 games this is still an unbelievably talented team that can at least put up a fight out of the 7th or 8th seed.
