WOW! That was a powerful statement. It's funny but for all the people who bash the system it's amazing how few really understand that it's just fundamental BB. Move the ball and Move yourself and take the open shot. It's such a gimmick that the Spurs have been using it now the last 2 years. The only thing that messes it up are a failure to execute. A failure to share the ball and keep moving. When we get stagnant and stand around and the ball sticks then all of a sudden it stops working! No surprise right?

What is proven is that if we play SSOL and defend, we win games.

I could care less about "The System" or which ever one a coach uses. If it produces wins (FOR THE KNICKS) and we make the playoffs, I like it. If not, than please try it on your next team.

You miss the point! We're negating the system as a source of the problem. It doesn't matter what system you run, basic principles of winning basketball are the same. SSOL are sound BB principles and not a gimmick. Proof of that is that it works even with less talented players so long as they execute it. You've seen that with your own eyes.

Some teams win just on pure talent alone and some teams are well coached and manage to exceed capabilities based on talent level. Some teams have loads of talent and still falter due to a lack of reliance on sound BB principles. When laziness and selfishness creep in, doesn't matter how much talent you have.

The System definitely works with less talented players and that does make it valuable but how would it do with the Kobe/Wade/Melo type of scorer. Check the UK article on this, its really intuitive.

If you are telling me that they were saying about Kobe what they are saying about Melo today, that's fair, but Melo is 27 years old.

That's the crux.

This is after he ran Shaq out off of town and Phil came back. For two years he heard he was selfish and decided to show up everyone by not shooting in game 7 of a playoffs series. I believe Kobe was 27-28

You must only remember what benifits your argument I guess. Pissing on a coach like Phil really proves how great ssol is!!!!!!

Stop confusing the issue. Kobe being an ass has nothing to do with the issue of SSOL being great or not. This to me is more of an example of what i've been saying which is that even if you have a GREAT COACH, the players have to buy in. The STARS of your team have to be an extension of the coach on the court!!! The coach in truth doesn't really have any control over whether STARS will fully buy in or not. Like I said "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink". All of PJax's greatness means nothing if his best players don't give Max effort and buy in to what he's preaching.

Ah ... you answered your own question. PJax gets max effort out of his players/stars when others couldnt (Dell Harris, Rudy T (who was a heck of alot better than MDA)...).

Sorry. But they have stopped drinking and will probably not drink again for this coach.

You are the first person who I've seen disrespect Jackson's acheivments - pretty weak!

Paul Westphal > MDA and got fired with a much worse roster of non-drinkers.

The way they played yesterday, I think maybe they are all drinkers.

Anji, it's different when you're bashing a guy with a championship and a perennial First Round Loser.

So Marburycross, you get to say that nobody called kobe out after he was 20 years old. It was for stuff off the court.

I post a video of the most selfish act that I have ever in sports, game 7 of the suns-lakers when the Lakers were rebuilding.

Marburycross then get's to say it was different because Kobe already had a title, so it was like it never happened.

LOL, this is why I skip over most off your posts. There is no real discussion, even when what you say is 100 percent pulled out your ass.

Yea, how is it not different when the guy already has a title? He's won. You get way more leeway when you've won a championship. Not saying that Kobe was right for pulling that stunt, but you can't draw comparison between Kobe bashing and Melo bashing.

I actually completely agree with the Kobe comparison. Melo right now reminds me of Kobe from 2005-7 - in terms of his "me against the world" type attitude on offense. Kobe matured and made a huge leap forward in his game. Can Melo do the same is the big question. Because a lot of guys have that same problem and don't make the leap Kobe did. Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter come to mind.

Kobe had multiple Championships at that point!

...thanks to a guy named Shaq. You remember Shaq was the most dominant force in the NBA for that stretch, right? He could have won three in a row with a piece of cheddar cheese playing shooting guard.

Stop confusing the issue. Kobe being an ass has nothing to do with the issue of SSOL being great or not. And even if you are a great player the coach has to believe in you. It's easy to talk about your system this or your system that, but first you get the players to believe in you. Phil could have sold Kobe down the river and ran his offense centered around Odom because he was a selfless player that blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, moved the ball, blah, blah, hit the open man, blah blah.

No, he won Kobe over as a coach............ as a man. And got everything out of Kobe first and the rest out of the role players, not the other way around. All of Pjaxs greatness never happens if he always needed a Big point guard or wasn't a fan of posting play or wasn't a fan of playing uptempo. He put his best players in a position to be great.

Great coaches bring the best out of all players, bench and star a like.

YUP! Some people around here don't want to accept the truth. The main difference between this team when it was winning and all the losing now is the presence of STAT and Melo. They dominate the 1st and 3rd qtrs and lo and behold we lose the 3rd qtr of games constantly. If this team is gonna win, they either have to step up their effort in the 3rd qtr or we have to make a change coming out for the 3rd qtr of games. Or perhaps make a quicker rotation change in the 3rd before we lose it completely.

Nix, with the exception of Dallas, we either had the lead or were within a few points in the first Quarter of every game. Why is it that Amare and Melo get all the blame for our 3rd quarter collapses but no mention of the 1st when we are still in it? And why do you absolve all blame from MDA for falling apart after halftime when the coach is supposed to be making adjustments based on what transpired over the first half?

What you're describing is the fact that STAT and Melo give more effort to start games but come out only looking to score in the 3rd qtr. STAT and Melo are in the 1st unit and are the stars of the team. If they play well there's no way this team falters in 4 out of 5, 3rd qtrs. The majority of the burden has to go to the stars and leaders of the team. Also many times it's the bench that brings the team back. What do you think MDA is only coaching the bench and not the starters? The bench does it mostly with increased effort!!!

As I said, you all blmae goes to Melo and Stat and not the coah who is responsible to view the 1st half and make adjustments accordingly. Certainly the other coach is making adjustments at halftime. So again, MDA get no blame whatsoever for the 3rd quarters?
