I was never a believer in D'Antoni's system, but set it aside, can you really blame him for this losing streak?

1. Jeremy Lin was a surprise. D'Antoni does not know how to handle that or work with it on top of his head (or just given a few weeks)
2. Amar'e sibling death (more like a dead son) is not something D'Antoni can handle and encourage Amar'e to play well, just can't. Think how Jordan handled his dad's murder, by being out for a while and he was a superstar.
3. Melo, melo, melo. ... that was ALL Jim Dumblan and NOBODY ELSE TO BLAME. D'Antoni was just cleaning up the mess and couldn't do a good job wiping Jim's butt
4. Whole new bench players and some got injured. D'Antoni is probably saying to himself "Why don't you just shoot me god?"

That said, I still think we need new owner...Jim Dumblan looks more and more like the naked from waist down skinny white dude in prison screaming "Please boss, gimme some more!"

Of course you can! Everyone gets blame and it starts with the coach. It always does - thats why they make a sh1tload of money

look MDA might need to go but some people let the players off the hook i mean they are professionals for chrissakes. I've played basketball all my life and even in 3rd grade when we played ****ty defense we didnt blame the coach we had the balls to blame ourselves

JCrusher. Some original insight is due. PLEASE!! Aside from telling me that Kobe won three rings prior to PJax arriving.

I appreciate the attempt at originality though

We did not bring in stars. Like many teams, we have a nice supporting cast but no legitimate stars. On paper (if you look at the right information on paper, that is), this should be a .500 or maybe slightly above .500 team. They're only slightly underachieving.

"Give me a reason why he should stay"?

Give me a reason a new coach can do better?

Its abstract so its easy to call it.

Coach changes and STAT and Melo will still be -16 and -12! As I point out in my 3rd qtr thread, since they've been back the defense has completely disappeared and every 3rd qtr we come out sluggish. These are times when our "stars" are supposed to lift the team. Instead in each of these games it's our bench guys that bring the team back!!!

nobody's doing a good job. if this was the NFL, everyone would get cut, the coach would get axed, and the main decisionmaker would get fired. but this is guaranteed contract land, so it's on Pringles by default. can't hold anyone else accountable but him

NO reason D'Antoni should stay after this week if the losing continues. If Knicks gets swept this week, then he has truly lost the entire team (if he hasn't already). No other reason to keep him around, especially, since he won't get renewed and his $6 million this season is guaranteed already. Let Woodson try to salvage the rest of the season, and make some sort of push to the postseason, to at least get the young players like Lin, Shumpert, and Jorts get a taste of the playoffs. Then in the offseason, go hard at Phil Jackson, Sloan, or maybe one of the assistant head coaches of the remaining playoff teams that preach defense first.

Then we will enter the Woodson era, where our owner gets players that approach Joe Johnson, Josh and Crawfish.

Please remember that Dantoni won in Phoenix <------this is redundant sarcasm.

I have to admit when I first saw this thread, I thought "he" was referring to Melo.

thats really it... the Knicks have become the Redskins of the NBA. We get great players, or players who think they are great, we get a winning coach and we play .450

Yes. You can't just trade away the whole team - too hard.

The defacto fall guy is the fearless leader. Much easier to do.

But, someones gotta go. Melo is actually tradeable but Amare is not. MDA is very fireable.

I understand everything starts with the coach. However, I think the only thing D'Antoni should be blamed for is his inability to gel team chemistry with all the players coming back, as well as there were no leaders all this time, and now the team is crumbling. Also, D'Antoni made less than many players, so don't think the money is the focus here. Besides, letting D'Antoni go might cause the same situation 49ers faced: 7 different coach each year and look at the team (before this year), it might be disastrous if we let D'Antoni go now.. we'll have to wait til season ends, and judging the trend, the season might end when playoff starts.

I would not fire him now. I would wait to the end of the season and judge him then.

The lakers had 11 coaches since 1990, we had 10.

11 of those years in LA were PJax and the still had time to hire and fire 10 other coaches.

Last I saw, they one 6 rings with their coaching carousel. We need the right coach and his name is Phil Jackson. He wants this job and we need him as well.

Give me a reason why he should stay
