Just wait until he sinks his first couple shots and the Garden goes crazy chanting his name. With the winning and the playoffs looming. He will relish playing for the knicks and change his persona just like Spree did.

Strategy

JR Smith is just another plot by the man to deflect attention away from Public Enemy Number One Carmelo Anthony.

Maybe Melo lobbied for him thinking:

This SHIT comes undone the fans can chew on him instead of me!

JR as a head case makes Melo look like a saint.

Deflection is a good thing!

Excellent point guns. Spree had everyone on edge too. Then he drained that first shot...

If everything pans out and all parts old and new buy in, this has the makings of a special team...

Scouting Report

moonangie - if you really dislike JR as a player, but prefer him over Toney Doulgas, can you please put into words how you feel about Toney Douglas as a player?

Just curious.

Do we have a t-shirt to sell?

Last year "melo 7" were big in the Melo Frenzy Fest.

A week ago "Linsanity 17" shirts are all the rage.

Im thinking a tan flesh tone long sleeve shirt with JR's tat's illustrated on it. Maybe a Turtle neck with his "Young Money" logo in it.

JR not getting any younger, and his money not secured yet.

What happens when "Young Money" declares bancruptcy by age 40?

I hope JR earns a huge contract BTW! It means he earned it!

I'm hoping JR shakes his cancer image and balls out. He is a local guy from NJ, so there's no reason he couldn't come home and perform well here. I'm pretty sure he'll buy into Linsanity soon as he meets with the team and at practice.

Dude is a half season rental. We cant afford to retain JR Smith after the season anyway.

I wish we could trade for a guy like Daequan Cook so we'd have bird rights this summer to retain guys.

Pop Quiz

On the court, what is the difference between JR Smith crazy and John Starks crazy?

Raise your hand with pride if you loved John Starks.

If he chooses, JR would have a Player Option for next year so it's not completely impossible(Guaranteed money for him).

JR Smith can get at least the MLE from most teams. He is only 26.

hasn't this been answered? Wilson a RFA of Denver. No way they would let him go anywhere else for Min $

Yes you did on the other thread. Just wasn't sure if the coming back from China early was going change something. Guess it doesn't.

Their games aren't even remotely similar.

Is this a serious question? JR can dribble-drive and create shots for himself and others. He's a spectacular athlete getting out on the break and finishing. He's come up big in huge playoff games in the past. Though he can do it, he doesn't need much help getting off a a shot for himself...

"dribble-drive and create shots for himself and others"
J.R. Smith has a career 1.0 assist per game playoff average.

"He's come up big in huge playoff games in the past."
J.R. Smith has a career 9.8 points per game playoff average on 35.6% shooting.

Now those are the facts uptown.

What does this tell me? He's a selfish guy who wants to pad his stats by playing more minutes and would rather shoot the lights out than play team ball and help his team actually win a playoff series.
