I'd love a S&T if possible for JR just so we'd have his bird rights this summer.

You lost me here...are we talking about Grant Hill or JR Smith?

Dear JR Smith;

I write this letter to you because I heard you expressed interest in NY, LA and possibly Denver. Let me express my thanks to you, as a Knicks fan and let me tell you a little something about those 3 places. LA is Hollywood baby! Plus you can live down the block from Kobe yet play with CP3 and Blake! Plus they play defense so you wont have to play defense all the time! As for Denver, those mountains are beautiful! Imagine smoking weed and riding your sled down those. Wouldn't that be fun? And New York is the pollution King of the World! Especially with all the traffic jams! Plus you have to play defense there all the time and the fans boo you for NOT playing defense! Doesn't that sound like fun?????

So what is it JR?

Love, Allanfan

I'd love you to say something offensive to Martin and Andrew so you get banned for posts like this.

Don't think you can sign and trade a player for a 1 year deal.

Why are you people so reluctant?

His attitude? Then why are former teams trying to re-sign him (Chicago, Denver)?
His defense? He is as good as Landry defensively

We are desperate for shooters. Novak alone won't cut it and his minutes will be curtailed when Melo comes back
We need bench scoring. Unless of course we want to continue playing Lin, Melo and Amare 40 minutes a night

I'm telling you, JR completes this Cinderella story. He is the missing Ginobili/Harden piece that fits perfectly.

"LINISH HIM!"

airchibundo507, I am reluctant because JR is a short term fix that hinders the long term development of the team.

Unless you think he is going to bring you a championship this year I think you pass.

its not clear he's any improvement over Shump/Fields at SG. I would rather have the high IQ guys

Word: Lin shows the way - IQ > shooting. Not to mention team chemistry is brewing Starbucks style right now.

If we get him he should only play off the bench in Q1-Q3, and should yield the floor in Q4 to Shump/Fields. I still don't see how he doesn't eat into Shump/Fields minutes. Walker is out there because Melo isn't once Mwlo is back and if we keep Shump/Fields at current minutes how much is left for JR? I don't think it's worth it. If we look at it as a straight swap for Walker and Melo injury insurance I would be ok with it. But JR will not agree to that role, would he?
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I'll preface by saying I like Shumpy's talent. That said, no gimmes on this team. Bring Smith in, unless you can find a better use for that exception and stabilize the bench. Best players gets the minutes. If Shumpy is better, he'll play. If not, we put the best team on the floor. No coddling here. I think ShumpShump would rise to the occasion in any event. You also never know when injuries may occur, so why not have the additional player? Who knows if BoomDizzle ever makes it on the floor... Shumpy may need to be the backup PG. But, heading into the 2nd half, I want as much depth as possible. Outside shooting has been a weakness, why not address it here?

Guys wont want Smith and his shooting until we cant get him.

Does anyone here trust Shumpert and Fields to knock down shots consistently for 4 games in a playoff series.

Based on the ESPN article I get a feeling he goes to the Clippers. D'Antoni can be fickle and I doubt Smith wants to sit on the bench. He wants to look good to get his next contract and Paul and Mo Williams can do that.

Doesn't someone have to get cut for the Knicks to sign JR Smith?

Reasons why:

JR Smith grew up in Newark.

Favorite artist is Jay-Z.

While playing in New Orleans, funded two adult literacy scholarships through HANO and was on hand for the ribbon-cutting of the Pecan Grove Resource Center.

Funded a Kids Café site with his proceeds from the Slam Dunk Contest.

Started the J.R. Smith Foundation, which helps kids get accepted into St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark) and assisted victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Purchased tickets to every Nuggets home game for underprivileged families the last two seasons.

I think you sign Smith and let Shumpert, Fields, and Smith compete with each other for playing time.

This is a win now team, and we have a lot of quality veterans on this team(Chandler, Amare, Melo, Davis) to avoid letting one guy like Smith who isn't even a star player to mess it up.

I say we take a lesson from the Gmen and build from within. We do not need to mess with our chemistry. We have some good young ball players coming together, we do not need to throw money at every big name we see. Giants stay true and usually go after character guys, Knicks have some already. Let's not mess with that.

Hmm you're right. SO Bibby gets cut since Balkman has the bigger contract

Miami has James, Wade, Miller, Battier on there perimeter. We don't match up with that right now.
