The Clippers and Knicks are clearly the frontrunners, but the Clippers blew their money on KMart and only have the min ($1 mil) to offer JR. I like our chances guys.

Again, we won't do sht in the playoffs if Novak is the only reliable shooter on the roster because he is most comfortable at SF, and playing him and Melo together will result in a defensive liability as one will be forced to play out of position.

Yay, I want to start JR Smith (as Fields is more comfortable on a bench unit without stars)
Yay, I want JR as our sixth man (in the mold of Terry, Harden, Ginobili, etc.)
Nay, I'd rather lose in the playoffs because of packed defenses
I say we get him just so that way Indiana and Chicago don't pick him up

We can over the cap to resign him once we have him. Dolan will pay the luxury tax no problem.

JR narrows it down to Knicks and Clippers!!

Lin(30)/Shumpert(18)
Fields(20)/JR(28)
Melo(36)/Novak(12)
Amare(32)/Jeffries(18)
Chandler(28)/Harrelson(18)

Spacing Line-up:
Lin/JR/Melo/Harrelson/Amare

Gritty Defense:
Lin/Shumpert/Melo/Jeffries/Chandler

End of close game:
Lin/JR/Melo/Amare/Chandler

does anyone realize how potent this line-up is on offense?

two elite pnr finishers at both frontcourt spots that can knock down free throws with ease
Lin and Melo are solid outside shooters, while JR excels at it. That is ideal spacing right there.
THREE guys on the perimeter that can run the pnr.

Bring on the Heat. Bring on the Bulls. With JR we are a championship contender.

you want to know what playoff teams think of Fields in the clutch?

we're not going to win many close games playing 4 on 5 offense

He should have passed no matter what. That same player and situation will be there again. HE needs to make that pass regardless. He has passed more in late clock situations to end quarters, like to Jorts, but he will need to lean on all his teammates in the future. You have to know the situation and it was a tie game so even if he does not make it you go into a 2nd OT but what you do as a leader if you make that pass to Fields, regardless of if he makes the basket, is you instill confidence in him for the next time. That is what Melo needs to do to become a great leader.

And in addition to Lin, we also don't see Novak open on the opposite wing in that screenshot either do we?

Oh no, please get us JR so we can get over the hump. I hate watching the yoots gel and come together all season. I can just see JR sitting blithely on the bench watching the two nerds do the nerdy pregame thing. That should be priceless.

And adding JR to the mix certainly won't compound any issues Melo will have getting acclimated to LinWorld.

I'm sure we can just keep a tumor on the bench and in the locker room and everything will be fine all season long.

And then, when everybody's all fuhucked up, we'll be primed and ready for the playoffs.

Replace Melo with Lin in that pic. Do you think Fields does not get the ball on a cut to the basket?

I don't want JR here but I am not voting either. Your "Nay" option suggests it is a bad thing.

Notice that Carmelo is making a great decision by not even thinking about Tony D on the right wing.

That Picture would look different if Lin was where Melo is because they would not triple team him.
