BOGUS

Well it is on Espn New York but I don't know if you guys deem their writers as credible either. Here's their piece if you're interested.

By Ian Begley
.
.
.
One report in "The Daily" stated that D'Antoni would be fired by owner James Dolan on Sunday if the Knicks lost to Chicago and Boston so the Knicks could avoid a media firestorm with the Giants in the Super Bowl.

.
.
.

Is Ian Begley so bad he can't even read the article correctly? The Daily stated that Dolan had already decided to fire MDA and was just waiting until after the next 2 games....not IF they lose them.

Master Jedi's don't have to scream at anyone.

Phil is often seen as aloof because he mostly coaches with his "Jedi Mind Control" thing.

i'm not a huge fan of d'antoni, but i think it's idiotic to fire him during the season. it's a lockout season! there are like 40 games and 80 days to go.

of course, since it's idiotic, you have to worry dolan will do it.

not idiotic if the ultimate plan is to bring in Phil Jackson which means whatever MDA accomplishes this year is irrelevant because anything short of going to the conference final means Phil will be brought in if he wants to coach again. Phil never said he was done coaching. He's been known to take a hiatus when it becomes clear that his championship team has run its course

How would firing D'Antoni encourage Phil to come here. Unless we have him wrapped up already the two situations are not related

So if we can get Phil Jackson now (not an interim-woodson) you would not make the move?

dude one has nothing to do with another. do you really think phil jackson would think it's a good idea to fire a fellow coach just so he can take over next year.

if dolan fires d'antoni this year, it's because he's afraid he'll eventually have success this year and he won't be able to fire him without public outcry. there is NO reason to fire d'antoni just to let woodson take over for the remainder of the year. none.

It's easy to guard a stationary man. Too often this team hasn't moved and hasn't moved the ball. We all know this offense is supposed to have constant motion and ball movement. Whenever the team actually executes they have a much better result. This is the challenge for this team right now. Yes there's no NBA ready Vet PG but they can still execute the gameplan a lot better than they have. If they do that over the next 3 games they've got a shot to win games.

They can't stand around and watch Melo if they want to win. Hopefully they've got that concept in mind and will trust it.

if you bring in phil it's after the season. d'antoni's contract is up after the season. how does firing d'antoni early have anything to do with bringing in phil?

if anything, as others have said, embarassing a coach without giving him a real point guard is ridiculous and might scare phil away.

if d'antoni is fired i will whole-heartedly believe isiah is involved and i will have less faith in this team than ever. because you just know isiah wants his college teammate and buddy mike woodson a shot at coaching the team, before a potential phil hire, so woodson can take the job when phil (inevitably) turns us down.

full circle my eye, is what i say to phil rumors. i just don't see him risking his rep for james dolan.

Nix, do you think that MDA tells TD to stop jacking up so many threes and he just ignores the coaches wishes? He calls for motion and they just stand around?

You can't make players play but if they are tuning out the coach or ignoring him completely then he has lost the team.

Or, this is his design.

there is absolutely no way phil jackson would come to the knicks MID-SEASON!!!! that's just not happening. he wants to put in his playbook, his assistant coaches, have a say in the roster.

IF phil happens, it HAS to be the summer so he can have a full camp to prepare. there's NO WAY he comes during this season. that is just not happening.

i think MDA tells Melo to do stuff and Melo does his own thing. and then no one else knows what to do. you can see this happen several times a game.

I can deal with woodson for the remainder of the year. Would like to see the young players on the team develop over the bill walker jeffries of the world. If we make the playoffs and Phil Jackson declines. If there is no other standout candidate then I'm okay signing woodson. Is the team shows improvement by the end of the year

I have no sympathy for a coach making millions of dollars and not producing a winning record. All I care about is the Knicks winning. Been far too long

You don't have to have sympathy for the coach. No one is asking that. What we are talking about is the organization that you love, that you want to see win, continues to do the same thing over and over again.

JVG-Defensive coach. Forced him to play Spree and Camby. Got good results. Got rid of Patrick and tried to go youth and running. Team started to lose. JVG left because he was smart and new it was only going to get worse. We drove him out by not listening.

Chaney-Guy screamed for a real PG. Refused to get him one. Got rid of all his centers and replaced them with undersized Power forwards. Finally got him the PG he needed and wanted and then fired him and replaced him with a coach that would fix everything

Lenny Wilkens
-Had his team gelling and playing well. Many were afraid to play against us. The national media was talking about how well Van Horn and Marbs were playing together. Just when he got the roster going we ripped it apart and brought in new players. Then we told him to shut up and win with the new roster

Isiah-The only guy that had a GM that actually supported him(because it was him). Too bad he didn't know how to build a team

Mike-Mike and Donnie were on the same page. Donnie had final say in personal decisions but he consulted with D'Antoni regularly. Funny how this is also the time the national laughter stopped. We became an exciting young team that was growing and improving. We gutted that team and replaced it with guys that don't fit Mike and are telling him to shut up and win with whatever he has

Next Coach Woodson?--Are we going to get him players he wants? Are we going to tell him to go f himself and win with whatever players we give him? Are we going to tell him to shut up and adjust your style because that's what Pat Riley did???When are we going to stop this cycle of lunacy and actually get a coach that we support, is the unquestioned leader and can grow with the organization???? Why doesn't anyone think this is important. Players can't win with this constant shuffling. Coaches can't win. We can't win. Why don't the fans demand this cycle ends??? Why do we keep thinking the next guys is the guy that will make it all better???????????????????????

There is no shortcut to winning. You win as an organization. If our coach and GM are not on the same page we are never going to win. Hiring and gutting and firing has never lead to winning. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have not had a stable GM - Coach combo on over the last 11 years. Donnie-MDA came closest but Donnie had to deal with Isiah's trash and the three years they had wasn't even long enough to get rid of that leave alone putting a team together.

The more crises I see the Knocks go through the more I think Dolan is exactly on the same page with a vast majority if fans. Fire your GM - The 1.5-2 years later fire your coach. Force trades for starters every six months. Perfect formula for repeatable and measurable failure.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Agreed. It's crazy. The coach doesn't have to be Auerbach to win a title. We don't need PJ to win a title. We need a strong organization to win a title. No one gets this. As you were saying, Every couple years we find someone to blame. We gut the roster, ask a coach to change his style. Fire the caoch. Then when the new coach can't win we revamp the front office, then when the coach can't win we fire the coach. ON and on and on. We are constantly tearing down and never building anything. Yet, every 2 or 3 years the fans start screaming "I'd take Kermit the Frog over Donnie", "Lenny Wilkens is just collecting a check", "the game has passed disciplinarians like LB by", "I'll take Woodson and his career .419 winning percentage over Mike". Who's next?

This is Dolan's MO and the fans follow right in line. But when you look at the past few champions those teams adn/or coaches and/or front offices have been there for a while. We have a new GM. A coach that's been here 3 years and possibly on the way out and a roster that was gutted 3 times in one year. Yet we can't figure out why we can't win. Oh yea, it's the coach again.

We are so dumb!

I pray that we already have an unwritten agreement from PJ and that we have promised him the GM and roster of his choice.
