Although He Has Been To The Galleria in Los Angeles, The Answer Man Never Shops The Mall

Q. ATrain - Is his jersey in stores yet?

A. Sure. Just cop a Wilson Chandler joint at Marshall's and change the nameplate.

"fluff stuff"....

Thats defined as pandering to the impatient media and fans.

MDA is right, you don't want to mess up TD. We don't know what particular aspects he is dealing with as to why he is not performing the job.

We got one case in Lando who is losing minutes.

While its obvious SHump is up to the task, there are considerations as to his minutes and what if TD falls off further?

Things we don't know the answer to. Things coaches won't really discuss. Things we as fans pretend to have a higher level of knowledge of.

Nalod - TD is already messed up. His role as leadership guard is apparently much more than he can handle. It happens. It's time for D'Antoni to call Douglas in his office, put his arm around him and reconfirm that he will play, just without the ball in his hands.

The sequence that did Toney in was the time the Knicks will never get back that he spent dribbling from outside the three point arc, through the lane, across the baseline and back out beyond the three point line.

Priceless.

Before the season, most of us said that all we needed was a good, solid backcourt. For the first time this season, we saw how good we can be when we have just that -- a point guard who sees the whole floor, makes some great passes inside and plays excellent defense, combined with a shooting guard (Bibby) who can hit shots. So to me, the Wizards game was big because it offered a hint of what we can be like if -- a big if -- Baron is as effective as we are hoping.

That said, obviously, Shump has to be our starting and finishing PG till Baron is healthy. Then, when Baron is ready, Shump should slide over to starting shooting guard, and let TD and Fields come off the bench.

End of story.

I think we overdo the psychology stuff at times. The 5 best players in each position should start.

Believe it or not this was Pringles pick. Singleton was Walsh's first choice, but decided to go with D'Antoni's pick because of the logjam at 3 and 4:

According to multiple sources, Walsh took a poll of the Knicks' war room, of all the scouts and basketball staff, and there was a split between Shumpert and Singleton. Walsh then turned to Mike D'Antoni, who said he wanted Shumpert. That's when Walsh declared, "Shumpert is the pick" and the selection was submitted.

That is why Donnie was a heck of a GM.

Respect is earned. You cannot have an uncertain and hesitant player managing three All Stars in the frontcourt.

You MUST have a player who is decisive and sudden. The ability that serves Shumpert well is the ability to change gears. Note how quickly he can see an opening and accelerate with the ball in his hands. He is difficult to defend because he is spontaneous and creative.

Better keep your head and hands up, unless you want to get hit in the face with the ball.

Stay alert my friends.

I wouldn't say I hate Shumpert, but I really disklike him so far. In some ways, he reminds me of Nate Robinson... sure he high-enery, but what about that shoot-first attitude...

I just hate when he takes those shots early in the clock, or when as the point guard he takes a shot immediately...

Geez, someone should tell him he's a rookie. Besides, it's not like he's a good shooter, he's a terrible shooter. That airball 3 in the last game was just ugly.

He should stick with defense, and take shots when he's open...

I usually love to root for rookies, but so far this season, I have to say I hate what that guy does...

Airballs happen. The kid ain't perfect.

Shump is doing what the coach wants.

Knicks make more threes than other teams cuz we take more. How? SSOL!

He is not Nate. Golden Nate is very limited.

Im not ready for him to start but its not important what Nalod wants or says.

Its all a work in progress.

If Shump is this good, its cuz he is also doing what the coach wants. Otherwise he sits.

He took 11 shots in 37 minutes and looked nothing like a shoot first guard after he realized he was cold. I can't understand how anyone can dislike him so far as a rookie. Mindboggling.

FrenchKnicks - what game are you watching?

Nate Robinson? Are you freakin' kidding me?

Nate never managed the floor as Shumpert demonstrated last night. In addition, Shumpert plays UNDER CONTROL. Did you watch him carefully position players BEFORE he ran a play? Shumpert is NOTHING like Nate. What are you basing your opinion on, other than some missed shots or a personal bias against guys with muscles?

Besides, Shumpert is NOT a terrible shooter. 4-11 for a player shooting with an injured leg? C'mon Son! Opinion is one thing. Being arbitrary is another.

You hate what he does because he missed some shots?

Please.

I'm excited about many of the things Shumpert brings and think he should continue getting 30+ min but he does not look like a good shooter.

4-11 from a rookie in his second game and he made it look easy managing seasoned vets including a couple of pernnial all-stars with matching egos. And you compare him with Nate? Nate couldn't hit Jerome James with a big mac in practice if his life depnded on it. At least recognize this kid has passing skills that we haven't seen in aknick guard for a long time.

Nate Robinson?

GTFOHWTB.

F#ck the dumb stuff, Shumpert had seven assists.

Think of how many assists he would compile once he gains trust in his running buddies and they start moving without the ball.

He JUST got here and someone like FrenchKnicks wants to magnify his missing a few shots?

Compare the before (down 16 and playing selfish) and after (looking like a team for the first time this season and up at the end) and think again French.

Can we give the kid the benefit of the doubt with injured and cramping legs? Perhaps that is effecting his shot a bit. Other than that he did a great job at the point. What else can you expect for a rookie? He improved the team and SAVED the Knicks when he came in.

Good thinking, probably much cheaper. Last time I was in Modell's Billups jerseys were $5

What Does This Mean In English?

FrenchKnicks - "Geez, someone should tell him he's a rookie."

Translation: Stay in your place Rook and stop playing like you run the joint. Defer to the other guys, follow and DO NOT lead... and play tentative like Toney Douglas. You are a rookie, go get me a pizza.
