No, the crazy part would be them investing $140 mil over 8 years in our front-court. I'm sure they wouldn't have done this deal before the season started, and I can't imagine anything they've seen so far would make them more eager to switch front-courts with us. We didn't have enough assets to get Chris Paul but people think we have enough to get Dwight Howard?

We didn't have the assets to get Paul because of what they were looking for, young talent and picks. Orlando wants established players and we have that. Not to say it happens, but there is a much greater chance of this happening then any deal for Paul ever was.

lol which guy is capable of averaging 14 rebounds and 3 blocks a game? which guy is the defensive player of the year by default each season? Dwight Howard and scrubs are literally an elite defense each year. Do you think guys like Nelson, Turkoglu, Rashard, Anderson, etc play any defense whatsoever?

look at the heat. big three, haslem and scrubs. I swear if we have Melo, Shumpert and Howard with some shooters that team is elite. Unlike Amare, Howard is used to playing without a good point guard. Having Melo ease the pressure he faces would do wonders for his already vastly improved low post offense. Turkoglu would do well as a stretch four with his ability to handle the ball making him an excellent mismatch. Hell, he could even run the bench offense as sixth man.

I love how when the chips are down this board immediately goes into the trade to get other players zone.

Constantly trading players is partially whats wrong with this franchise - there is no continuity, which is important for a team to gel. Is that the only problem here? No, but it is certainly part of it.

I think Howard is a great player but there is no guarantee he will fix whats wrong with this team. I think a lot of people are for the trade because they are afraid Amare is going to get hurt or that he has already lost some of his game. I think the issue is that Melo and Stat don't really play well together (yet).

In addition, we have a roster lacking true role players which is something you need to win a championship. I don't see how gutting our front line to get Howard will help us and most likely it would take more than just Stat and Chandler - meaning our already weak back court will get even weaker.

I think we just need to fill out the roster, get the players on the same page, and if the coaching is an issue you make a change there. I still support MDA but I agree its looking bad right now.

Magic would ahve to be crazy to do this deal. If they truly want vets back they'd ask for a ton more than just Amar'e and Chandler to make the deal worth it. Whatever pics we can offer, Shump, Fields, etc.....

I love STAT. Not sure I'd be so quick to trade him if we give up a ton in the deal. But if it was reasonable it would be hard to turn down. I would sign off on STAT, Chandler, Fields, Pick for Howard, Turkoglu, filler.....
