Guy is not terrible, and its good MDA is playing a rookie, but dude took 4 shots tonite.
4.
0-4.
All of them 3's.
Melo is the best player on a injury depleted team.
some of you are indignant about hoisting up 3's?
Get indignant about the starphuck! This is what most of you wanted. This is what happens when injuries happen.
Melo is doing his impersonation of Bernard.
Its a work in progress. Keep watching and keep the faith.
In Jorts we trust!
there was a certain comfort in the old squad. it was easy to follow knowing that players still needed to reach their potential. losses weren't so disappointing because it was a "learning" experience. now, the expectations are high and the team "is what it is." i'm surprised that no one is pointing to miami's start last season as an example that these things take time.
it's easy to take one star and put him in the center of a young supporting class. it's way more difficult to blend two superlative players together and make them greater than the sum of their parts. often, both players suffer and take a step back. does it have to stay that way? no.
neither melo nor amare ever played an NBA season with someone as skilled as the other. and for them to blend, it's going to take way more than 7 games. last season doesn't even count. this team has had a short training camp, two preseason games, and five regular season games. why can't the youth lovers embrace the potential of our star duo? sure, it's not showing itself now, but i think the jury is still out. there is no definitive evidence that they cannot make it work.
Maybe it is because Miami was a championship caliber team last year already and we only are a second round team at best.
No offense mate, but we're not in the same league as miami.
Lebron > Melo
Bosh is not that far from stoudemire
Wade is better than anything else we may add combined
There are favorites to win the title whereas the Knicks are favorite in knicks fans only.
never said the Knicks were as good as Miami. only that the Heat started off slowly even after they had the benefit of a complete training camp and preseason. before they became "championship caliber" as you proclaim, some were questioning if LBJ and Wade could co-exist in light of their similar, ball-dominant games. obviously the players have proved most wrong. Miami is legit.
now, i was against the trade. i wanted to wait it out and let free agency take it's course. but regardless, that's over. in the past. nothing to change that. i just find it odd that some people could see limitless potential for all of the Knicks young guys, but, today, they're ready to write off the Melo-Amare pairing as being unworkable. i think Melo and Amare have tremendous potential to be very dangerous together.
but we both know, as with youth, as with superstar combinations -- potential doesn't mean anything until you prove it. the time to prove it has not elapsed. thus, i'm not casting judgment. i'm giving the team a chance. not saying the losing doesn't disappoint. or that the style of play is entertaining. but if you looked at our start last year, we had many similar problems. i jumped the ship early on that team and felt dumb when they started to put it together. i'm not gonna let that happen again.
