it would be an interesting move. I'd prefer to draft a point than trade TD for Flynn, because of the injury risk and internal development instead of relying on Minny (even though I'd still do that deal).

And I'd rather have Casspi than drafting a guy like Jordan Hamiliton

This one is interesting and I'd pull the trigger

Thta's the thing. If we make this trade and don't get another guard via the draft of free agency, we're stuck going to war with an dold point guard rotation of Anthony Carter and Billups. I'm sure Casspi would be an upgrade over Balkman and Walker. Maybe even Fields and Shawne. But this move would make us worse overall. I'd rather wait and see who's available at 17 before going forward with this deal.

There's a slew of points available, which I don't think TD ever will become. This probably makes the team worse on one of TD's good days, but what about his bad days?

I would wait too, but only to see if Alec Burks or Klay Thompson falls, if the decision is to go for a guard

I must add that caveat as well, if the decision is to add a guard. (I am still firmly entrenched in the Kenneth Faried camp)

But as for the deal at hand, I fail to see how drafting, say, Charles Jenkins and trading for Casspi makes the Knicks worse

Are we able to immediately deal him on draft night?

Could we be trading someone on the Knicks who Casspi would replace?

Casspi is still very young, and still has an upside. I see him as a more complete player than Derrick Brown (do we even own his rights at this point?), Fields, Shawn Williams, and Walker, who seem to be players that would be affected by his presence on the Knicks, especially if he can play SG.

Are any of those players possible trade fodder with teams ahead of us in the draft?

I never saw Casspi as SG. I think he's more of a three who could play power forward in a small lineup. His floor game hasn't really developed to the point where I'd trust him handling the ball too much. Maybe it will happen in time.

If he can defend the position, they might overlook his ball handling, since you have a Anthony on the team. He could be used the way Fields was used.

I never saw him as a SG, myself.

Hypothetically, if we were to acquire him, you know there's a some kind of master plan the Knicks are working from, which we are simply not privy to, unless we think Dolan's just picking him up to satisfy our Jewish fans.

Maloof brothers are having problems- they recently (a week or so ago) gave up majority control over their flagship interest:

The Maloof family, who own the Sacramento Kings, has lost majority control of the Palms Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas, according to the Wall Street Journal. In a debt restructuring, the Maloofs’ ownership stake in the popular hotel dropped from 85 percent to 10 percent. The Palms is seen as the Maloof family’s main business; the family sold its long-held and reportedly lucrative beer and spirits distributorship in New Mexico — the foundation of the family business — in 2009.

If we were to give them $3M in cash in a Douglas for Caaspi swap, and then another $2M or so for their #35, they might be very happy with the extra $5M in their pockets.

Ultimately, if this goes down, you expect that we are looking for a Douglas replacement in this draft, as well as a big man, and that an existing Knick might be used in a trade to move up if this or that player drops to a certain spot.

It does not, IMO.

I don't mind this trade, I think he can play the 2. I think he is game is somewhere between Gallo, Delfino, and Kyle Korver.
He has great size, high BBALL IQ, most importantly he is a great spot up shooter which Fields was below average last year.

However, I would not trade TD for him. I would only trade him for Fields.
Fields contract ends next summer so unless he improves his game I don't have interest in Fields post Melo trade.
Most importantly I would like the 2nd round pick!

I think it's a fair trade. They're both decent players who play different positions. But, if we trade TD, our need for a pg becomes that much greater and more immediate.
