I can imagine if we still had Z-Dump, We'd be saying "Cap fodder expiring!"

Memphis is a great city! They guy got his contract. Lets see how the next 4 years go.

Im sure he has 71 million reasons to be happy he's not in Minny! Or Milwaukee!

shot blocking versus rebounding.

Either way, Marc Gasol makes Zbo look much better than Amare with no one next to him.

half of zach rebounds come from his own misses and shots that get blocked... I am happy for zach, he is playing for a team that covers his flaws.... with that said, I will always take amare over zach.... amare outplayed a younger duncan in his prime....

Zach was doing great his last few games here as a Knick when MDA stepped in. In Isiah's offense he was just a ballhog who took bad shots and didnt play to his strengths. I got sick of watching him tap dance with his jab steps every play before shooting a contested jumper. But MDA said he was a good guy who was mispercieved. He said he was very coachable and he loved having him around. And I think he said all that AFTER Zbo left.

Papabear Says

You are waisting your breath about Zach and Crawford, this forum hated them the same way they hated Zeke. Had Crawford and Zach not been traded that year by us we probably would have went into the second round of the play offs. They were playing better than what we have now but no one wants to hear it. Now we have 2 very good players and nothing else.

Totally agree. The team was rolling when Walsh made that trade, all for the hope of landing Lebron. I like Melo and STAT but they both have to get much better at TEAM basketball and DEFENSE if this team is actually going to contend for a championship. I really am not convinced that STAT is a better PF than Randolph. Randolph is a much better rebounder and a more consistent defender (albiet still playing average defense but he is more consistent at what he tries to do). STAT Is a horrible rebounder and a terrible defender for most of every game. He amd Melo can turn on the defense in spurts, but you have to play consistently intense defense to make it in the playoffs. I am not convinced that the team we have know is that much better than the team we had in MDA's first year. This team has more potential because we still have cap space to sign another quality player, but Walsh has his work cut out for him.

It's frightening to think that such things as Zeke apologists actually exist.

I wish we still had Eddy Curry. Jerome James. Jared Jeffries...oh wait, that didn't work out too well did it?
Shandon Anderson, where are you???

Getting swept makes some people bitter. Apparently, it makes some people dumber.

marc berman laid it out:

C: david lee
PF: z-bo
SF: gallo
SG: crawford
PG: ray felton (MLE)
6th man: wil chandler
rest of bench: toney D, landry, mozgov, jordan hill, nate Rob LOL, jeffries.

is that a better team? are we really in better shape?

the z-bo thing is mystifying. will he keep it up? will the grizzlies dominate the NBA? excited to see it all play out.

Timing is everything, Jc is playing in a good system, so is zach.

We had some very talented players over the years playing under some fck up condintions, constant trade rumors, coaches getting fired year after year, IT, larry brown, "lame duck" chaney. We have HAD no stabilty or any thing remotley close to it..

The worst thing we miss...Knowing when to be patient with some one (coach or player) and when not to..we have made more lateral trades (in the last decade) then any team in sports. These trades come at the worst possible time, every single time.

The difference in ZBO's play is he has a real center to cover for him in Marc Gasol. Playing him next to David Lee would have been a disaster. Anyone who says otherwise is straight up crazy.

Most important hole to fill this summer is center. Robin Lopez, Anderson Varejao, Chris Kaman, JaVale McGee, Brendan Haywood... there are some decent options who could maybe be had. We don't need a guy to score more than 8ppg in the middle, but he needs to defend and rebound and block some shots.

Randolph is not as good as Amare but he is better than Boozer.

Randolphs problem is he has no vertical and his defense is atrocious. He could always score, pass, and rebound. The problem is he was on teams with other poor defenders which made him look that much worse. Randolph also doesnt see double teams like Amare.

Im happy we got Amare. Im also a fan of Randolph for his raw offensive talent. Randolph is just too smooth and doesn't rely on athleticism.

I agree 100 percent. Not saying I think the old team was better, but those guys weren't reason why we lost. There alot of other elements surrounding the team that kept us from seeing those guys at their best.

Are those guys on the block or in the dog house???? Because I would take both in a heart beat.

I the Knicks had Zach the situation would be the same.

We would STILL need a center.

(No, David Lee was NOT a center)

I, for one, do not miss Zach Randolph. I'm perfectly happy with Amare as our starting PF. Its not like Zach was a bargain. They were the same price, and Amare is a leader, where as Zach was a follower. I don't care what he's doing now.

I feel like Robin Lopez might be since Gortat emerged as a great starting center for them and they have both Gortat and Frye under contract for years to come.

JaVale McGee might be just because Washington seems to be in constant flux.
