This team really needs a player who can step up and play better then the other teams Defense to put points on the score board. Jamal for 5million would be a great pick up.

I personally would rather see if we could trade Billups and our pick for a quick point who could play the 2 guard with Tony like Devin Harrison.

What happens to Chris Paul?

Well I'm assuming the knicks would pick up a guy like this if they were all in next season, so CP3 probably isn't a knick if they go this route.

Need 1 is a Bigtime defensive and rebounding C and 1A a PG that can penetrate and kick. I don't think that there's any PG FA worth going after unless you want Aaron Brooks. My thinking is that the Knicks just might bite on that for the right price. His Qualifying offer is 3 Mil. Not sure Houston wants to keep him. If we could workout some kind of deal with Billups to sign him for a lesser amount and an additional couple of years maybe he bites.

A lot of people don't like Marc Gasol, but he's big and still developing. I might go hard after Deandre Jordan. I think he fits what we do and i'm not convinced that the Clips will spend whatever it takes to keep him.

We should probably look at Billups, our draft pick, and 3 million at draft night for Nash and maybe Lopez. Nash is a good option simply because we know he makes us better next season and keep our options open beyond 2012. If we want to look at the right players who will fit, but prevent us from a 2012 free agent run, we might look at some Cleveland players. Varejao is the ideal big man for this team, Sessions fits that creating PG we are in need of, and Gibson is a nice 6th man option. In order to get these types of players (either all 3 or 2 of the 3) we have Billups' contract that would save them money, our draft pick, and either Fields or Douglas. I would really prefer to keep Fields though, and i think people are losing faith in the guy because of his recent struggles. I think next season he comes back hard and improves in all the right areas.

Firts of all, you don't keep Douglas. You trade him for anything you can get, whether is a young backup pg, a pick or both if you get lucky. To me, Douglas has no future here.

I would re-sign Billups at a lower rate if he is up for it both for the amount and for his health. If not, time to be creative.

I'd try to sign a young center like Jordan. Not gonna be easy, especially if we want to keep flexibility for Deron/CP3 but we can't waste another year of Stat/Melo prime. We really are depleted, as we need a starting C, PG,SG as well as a decent backup PG and C.

Can we trade Balkman for a pick, even a second round one? Can we turn Jerome Jordan into a serviceable backup C? Will we ever get something from Rautins or man up and trade him? Can we take advantage of having Brown and develop him to be a main card from the bench?

This is where we are right now, considering the guys that should return:

Starters:

PG-
SG-
SF- Melo
PF- Stat
C-

Bench:

6.
7. Shawne Williams
8. Landry Fields
9. Ronny Turiaf
10. Derrick Brown
11.Jerome Jordan
12.
I1. Anthony Carter (More of a guess, but a veteran backup PG who still has something in the tank doesn't hurt here.)
I2.
I3.

Filling those blanks with solid players will be tough for Donnie.

Now, some of the missing ones are obvious goners, like Jeffries, Balkman (if he can get traded), and Sheldon Wiliams. Douglas, in my opinion, is a lost piece since he can't play PG to save his life, isn't a real SG and is inconsisent in both shootin and defense. Yes, he is young but we need consistency and solid play from our 6th man. A true backup PG would help more.

Billups is the wildcard. I want him back but healthy and at less salary. Walker is somebody I could see coming back, but its like with Doug, ther may be a betterand more consistent optin out there. And Rautins, what the heck do we have there, a 10-year projet? Time to show you belong or get lost.

How would you fill those blanks?

Also, I hate this part where we start looking at upgrading the team because we lost all hope in our team, who has yet to be eliminated but gave us that sorry effort at home that kills any hope.

I was so excited for this playoffs. Silly me...

I would like Samuel Dalembert because I don't think we're getting DeAndre Jordan and, if possible, Reggie Evans.

I don't think either will command what they were making and would be excellent pieces for this team. As far as PG, I think keeping Chauncey isn't that bad of idea (for CP3 trade bait/ to have an actual PG) and using TD to trade for a true back up PG. I love TD, but he just cannot pass the basketball unfortunately looks like another undersized 2.

Like someone else was saying earlier, Earl Clark, would be a nice option as well.

Knicks NEED a guard who can penetrate. I'm willing to admit that Crawford isn't the best option, but he looked good running the SSOL while he was here. (Most people forget that for the first 9 games of his last season here, D'Antoni put the ball in his hands and let him create and he did a great job at it.)

Who are the other guys who could do this?

One might be OJ Mayo - with Tony Allen and Mike Conley locked into the starting backcourt in Memphis, Mayo might come free. Memphis just locked up ZBO to 4yrs $71M, they locked up Gay and Conley and will most likely lock up Marc Gasol. What can we offer them for Mayo? the 17th pick and Turiaf's expiring deal? 17th pick and Toney Douglas? I know Mayo has been a disappointment, but I think he's in the wrong system. In a more open system, I think he'd shine here. He's also a very good defender. Though he's not a point guard, he could be the third scorer in a sort of triangle system with Melo and Amar'e at the other points of the triangle.

Who are the other guards we could chase? Ridnour? Sessions? This team desperately needs a lead guard who can create penetration and get our two scorers easy baskets. Obviously we need a center as well.

We need an ifusion of some young backcourt talent. OJ Mayo needs to work on his PG handle but if a very good passer.

Jamal Crawford? WHY do we need the guy that dribbles out the clock to shoot an airball with 43 seconds left and a 3 point lead? He just gifted the game to OIrlando here.

More true 2-3 2-way players not Jamal Crawford because he's a free agent

we need a center and a guy who create from the guard position. i like jamal. he excelled in d'antoni's system.

Jamal Crawford is 31 and plays terrible defense. I'll pass.

When last seen in a Knick uniform, JC was on his way to dog house. We expect them to allow D'antoni to coach next season. A recipe for disaster.

I doubt if Crawford would want to come back to the Knicks because of the way he was treated when he was here. Instead of using the talents that he had to do the things well they expected too much of what he could do. We now have 2 stars that don't play defense.Like Charles Barkley said the Knicks have no Chemistry and D'Antoni's game plan really don't fit Melo. We got more out of Crawford , and Zach Randolph when they were here and cheaper.

Yeah, sign crawfish and while you're at it, see what Marbles is up to in his conquest of the Ming dynasty, and also check on Really Really Really Fat EdAlbert Curry. Maybe we can drum up Lee Nailon as a potential Sixth Man Award winner. All your problems solved.

Martin, for Golly-gosh sakes, don't you screen people who apply for user ID's? (My application aside)

comparing jamal crawford to marbury or curry is really really lazy and inaccurate.

jamal was never a behavior issue. he always played hard and usually played well. he was just hated on by people who needed an outlet to vent about the team and expected him to be a superstar. he's not a superstar, but he's a very valuable player who can create easy shots for himself and others with his penetration and little in-between game of 8-10 floaters and pull-ups.

i have no love for isiah, but that doesn't mean i can't like jamal. he's won two playoff games in a row for Atlanta and looks to be one of the main reasons they're going to be able to swing an upset.
