Again, do you have any evidence that it was not mentioned? We are making wild assumptions unless I missed something. Secondly you mentioned that the guys were mentally worn out. Possibly it was mentioned and they were so "mentally tired" that they missed it. Even if it was mentioned and D'Antoni and his band of extremely experienced coaches decided to spend the entire timeout letting the guys rest and gather some of the mental faculties they lost. Or they spent the entire time out discussing what happens if the celtics miss free throws. Or even if they spent the entire time out talking about the hot blond behind the bench. If you are a star, that wants to prove himself as one of the greats, and play on Olympic teams, and have commercials, and lead posses, and call yourself a leader, you simply cannot place blame on anyone but yourself if you forget to foul a man with 4 seconds left and down 1. What did he think the score was? Did he think he was winning?

The details are what make a coach, and not to realize that there maybe a run down with the most exhausted player on the floor is a big detail to miss.

Kudos to Doc in the last two games, just wish our coach put our players in a position to succeed in the last two games and didn't rely so much of going with the flow.

what games were you watching? The 2 where the Knicks' coaches weren't there and the team was down by 20? Or the games where the Knicks were down 1 and in a position to win?

Doc is very fortunate to have had all of his players available to him for those crunchtime plays. It makes coaching a lot easier when you have 4 options to go to and a team that's been together for years. If you don't think that is a large part of why Doc's team is executing perfectly then you just aren't being reasonable.

Compare the 2 situations and Doc's job is much easier. They've been thru this stuff so many times it's lie 2nd nature. When have these Knicks been thru this level of competition together? What do they have to fall back on? The C's know each other on a telepathic level. They can anticipate what their teammate will do cuz they have that level of chemistry having been thru the wars for years.

The ones Where Doc pushed the right buttons to turn deceits of 3 plus into wins in the last minutes of the 4th quarter. Sorry but the dude makes millions for what??? Yeah it is easy to look in hind sight, but I'm not getting paid to know that Doc rivers might be smart enough to throw the ball to who ever Melo is guarding or how to stop Rondo from getting about 12 layups in a game.

Didn't know getting close to a win was a prize.

Yeah, yeah, it's luck all right. Like having Rondo, Kg, PP, Ray Allen on the floor, but being smart enough to have West leakout to the back court because Melo could barely jog to him to make a foul. That is Puuuuuuuuuuuuure Luck!!!!

I hope blow out the Celtics, because they are so damn lucky I don't want to see coach have to deal with another tight game.

Dude, I never claimed to know what D'Antoni did or did not discuss in the timeout, I've challenged YOUR assertion that it's "ridiculous" to expect D'Antoni to mention it in the last timeout of a 4 second game.

The stakes are extremely high, the players are fatigued, some are very young and inexperienced. A coach can take nothing for granted. To think they have no need to discuss how to defend the inbounds and stop the clock as quickly as possible is the truly ridiculous assertion of this thread.

I think it's ridiculous that Bippity thinks it's ridiculous for D'Antoni to mention to foul to his team. Maybe Carmelo and the rest thought that the situation was hopeless. But it wasn't. I couldn't believe they gave up, in my opinion. Like they were down 4. Granted it was gonna take a half court shot or a 35 footer to put the game into overtime if the shooter who was fouled made both shots. But who knows if the shooter was gonna make both shots? Again, the Butler Bulldogs would have filled within .2 seconds upon the other team inbounding. Blame the dopey players or blame the coach? That is the question I guess.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
Why didn't D'Antoni foul with 4 seconds left?
