Rose is a great talent but I believe this dude is more Vince Carter than Michael Jordan, Carter was a beast on offense just like Rose he just never had the supporting cast Rose does. People fall in love with players too quickly these days I wanna see Rose put up these numbers every year for 10 years and then I will compare him to the greats. a 6'3 point guard who double clutches every layup and relies on his freak athletic ability is not gonna be able to put up these numbers once he gets a little older. Rose is not the MVP , I will say Dwight Howard the dude affects both ends of the court like nobody else in the league.
No layups!

I like Dwight as MPV too but I wouldn't compare Rose to Vince. For me, Vince never had the mental makeup; not a leader, folded at the times he needed to step up. Rose has the makeup to take a challenge, embrace, and succeed. Still a lot of years to prove this out, but I sense more Jordan than Vince.

The requirements for MVP doesn't call for a player making his teammates better.

wow people are really hating on rose!

beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

mray you fault rose for reyling on freak athleticism and then say that howard should be the MVP? ummm....that guy's been in the league for 7 yrs now and still doesn't have a go-to move.

more vince carter??? damn man, it is hard to get respect here! 60 wins with a roster that has 7 new faces and a new coach, not to mention the injuries they have dealt with to their 2nd and 3rd best players.

This will be interesting...Was having a conversation with my brother about Rose...I was telling him players like Rose tend to get hated and blamed if their teams don't succeed..See Marbury and Iverson...Because he plays to point, he is expected to be a pass first point...It's all exciting now like it was with Iverson but if he doesn't win, well we will see...

Easier said than done. Dude is a beast.

Billups can't guard Rose.

You're singling out Billups??!! He is just one of many who can't guard him.

You have to devise a team strategy- keep him from getting a full head of steam and taking it to the basket as much as you can and hope the jumper is off.

I would expect to see Douglas on him a lot, with Billups at SG, also.

He showed another gear, yesterday- seemed like a pro playing against HS kids at times.

a good team startegy would be - no layup rule. he may try to come in a few times but if he gets busted on his a s s when he does, he'll think twice about it the next time. and, im not talking about severly injuring a guy. i am talking about a nice clean hard foul that sends a message. one or two of those and rose becomes a jump shooter.

the best player on the team ALWAYS does. Thats the burden of stardom. Look at Ewing. He took a painfully average cast of characters to the 2nd round of the playoffs for 10 straight years. TEN FREAKIN YEARS and people always talked about he cant hit the big shot, isnt as good as MJ, Shaq, Hakeem, etc etc other stars of the era

It just comes with the territory.

Rose is an awesome talent. Everything you want from the top pick. Rose is the player the Bulls dreamed Jay Williams would be 10 years ago.

If you have Rose on your team your gaga about your future.

So he's a not a great play maker (yet). He's got time to improve. Dude oozes talent and runs a 60 win team. Not sure how much criticism there really is to dish out here

those days are over. Todays players are too much of a fraternity. Todays players like each other too much. Sure.. some go at it and there are clicks but the 90s are gone man.

Ewing wasn't hated or blamed for the Knicks not getting to the next level...No one ever thought that Ewing being a flawed player as the reason his team didn't succeed...Scoring PG's are held to a different standard because they dominate the ball so much...I don't think it has anything to do with being a star...It's more to do with the position he plays and his scoring ability...

The same thing you are saying about the future of the Bulls and Rose could have been said about Iverson and the Sixers...

really? Did you not read papers or listen to talk radio during the 90s? Ewing was 100% targeted as the reason the KNicks didnt advance. He wasnt as good as MJ, he wasnt as good as Hakeem, his missed big shots when the chances where there, etc etc etc

You dont remember fans throwing the posters on the floor? You dont remember fans thinking we were better without him when we got hurt and Camby moved to center full time?

Ewing was the best college player and the #1 pick in the draft and a guy who was supposed to deliver titles to NY. So much so people cried the draft was rigged!

As time has gone by people realize how good he was and how much he brought but during the 90s he was 100% blamed for that stuff

You don't win 62 games and clinch the best record in the NBA if you are the next Vince Carter. Derrick Rose is the real deal. He's on a good team with a great coach (why didn't we hire Tom Thibs again?!!?!?)... it'll be interesting to see what happens in the playoffs.

yes... holfresh has a very selective memory. Hell I remember fans saying Ewing wasnt worth the money right before he signed a big extension in the prime of his career.

Ewing was an enigma for sure.

I think all the above is correct about him. He bought much of it on himself with "guarantee" victories that did not always happen and played with injury but never told anyone because he thought it would diminish his value. He was surly and only wanted to play a style of ball that enhanced his production and value.

He was a warrior, wanted to win, and was selfish all at the same time. Very complex situation.

Is it his fault we did not win a chip? Is it Charles Smith fault with bad knees we overpaid to trade for him and missed some pathetic % of foul shots that game that should never have come down to his miscue? Is it Ewings fault Riles was pathetic in coaching game 7 against the rockets?

Ewing was here a long time. He was many things good and bad during his 14 seasons here.
