If melo has a bad game its all about "the trade".

If he has a great game its the same.

A peak in to the future?

With Dolan running this team not as a fan but as a business man Im just not going down the emotional road with this team.

Im happy with the direction of the team but lets be real. We are one Isiah anouncment away from having to make a choice.

How much would it suck to have to root for your team run by a man you dispise?

Sorry, Im not taking the starphuch bait. Fill the damn roster out and lets watch the game.

We got 10 years of hate being correct to suddenly think some fairy tale happy ever after sheit gonna behold this franchise into some magic collective of fairy dust wonderment.

Last nite was great, we finally held Hansbro to under 29! Defense is looking good! Give MDA a prop!

...and lets give the bench and role players some props as well. Fields, shawne williams, douglas...even derrick brown.

Had enough Melo?

Period.

Add in Moz, the Randolph that is back to putting up big numbers in Minny a first round pick, cap space and it is a lot to give up. I love Chauncey and Melo but when I think about that trade I don't feel like the Knicks won that deal.

I believe Randolph was part of the Curry trade.

For these haters, we could win 6 championships with Melo, but having Gallo, flexiblity, and some hope that we can become more than a .500 team with those young pieces we traded is more important than that.

Yeah, that's a fair representation of those against the trade.

We don't know yet what the new CBA will be, but right now we should have enough cap space to add a FA this summer. No we won't be able to add a really expensive player, but we're not looking for one at this point. If we decided not to keep CB and Walker next year, we'd only have $30 mil in salaries. That would be a decent amount of cap space. We have a pick this year, can also bring back Jerome Jordan, buy some picks as well. I think we have a decent amount of options to upgrade the roster. We just don't have a lot of trade assets, but everything else is still there.

This is only a slight exxageration. Some are really married to those young guys we gave up.

And we had a shot to win with the other players we had? It's good to have them, but what happens when we actually have to pay them? We are the only team in the league who have long term commitments to only top 10-15 players in the league. I will take that over having to pay players we hope are good someday.

Sorry, disagree here, and especially not at the max.

I disagree that he's not a max player. I've seen this posted a numerous times on these boards. Joe Johnson is not a max player. Carmelo Anthony is.

And I think Anthony, Billups, and Shawne Williams/Douglas assuming the extra minutes > Gallo, Chandler, and Felton

Melo at the max is way better than these 3 combined. Think of what these are are going to be making per year. Felton at 8M, Chandler will make 8M or more this summer, and Gallo the same or better next summer. It is always better to have long term money committed to stars than it is that amount each to role players. So i would have to say Melo is better value and it isn't even close.

I've been saying this all along. I'd rather have he money invsted in Melo as opposed to Wilson/Gallo and hope that eiher one turns to be a Melo type player. Gallo and Will are good youn players but they are now both NBA veterans and will get paid like veterans.

Which has what to do with what I said?

I'm just thanking our pre-trade Knicks for their contribution to our first winning season in years.

And the Celtics probably play their starters. There's no guarantee we beat Bulls/Celtics healthy

I think the point is that we would've gone hard to get the wins if it mattered. No one can guarantee a win.

This is not true. Knicks have exactly 2 contracts that extend past 2011-2112 - Melo and Stat (3 of you count Balkman).

Yes, 2 max's take up a large percentage of the cap, but the knicks will have more than a third of their cap space freed up (if they decide to go that route in 2012) and (again, besides Balkman), not a bad, long-term contract in site.

Knicks in fact is pretty solid shape cap wise.

Cap wise there are only 9 teams that have more committed for the 2012-2013 season;

Hawks
Bulls
Mavs
Pistons
Lakers
Heat
Hornets
Magic
Blazers

There are 19 teams that have less in committed contracts;

Celtics
Bobcats
Cavs
Nuggets
Warriors
Rockets
Pacers
Clippers
Grizzlies
Bucks
Wolves
Nets
Thunder
Sixers
Suns
Kings
Spurs
Raptors
Jazz

The Heat are in the worst shape....$67 million + in guaranteed money to 6 playes; Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Miller, Haslem and Anthony with that figure going above $70 million the following year....ouch.
