I actually like Melo's game in that regards. I would not call him a dirty player. He is a physical player. Aside from the sucker punch on Mardy, I have not seen any dirty play from Melo.

Yup.

You don't run up on an player, from his blindside, during a scuffle when his back is turned. Kermit Washington was no criminal and Rudy T got caught with a spontaneous reaction.

Didn't you learn anything from Rodney King?

It's not. I love his 10 boards, he really knows how to get up and get the ball unlike countless other Knicks (Clarence Weatherspoon, Eddy Curry, Mozgov). Sometimes Melo just shoves the guy next to him out of the way though.

Cash$ wrote:Guys push for rebounds all the time, hence the term foul. Melo punched one guy and it was years ago and it was Mardy Collins. Melo should have punched Zeke for drafting that guy. Tripping - happened once so far as I know.

Melo is not a dirty player but has had a few dirty plays. A dirty play here and there doesn't mean the guy is a dirty player. The few instances don't define Melo as a player.

I'll give Melo the benefit of the doubt. It's only been some 15 games so far and the response from the UK has been in overwhelming disagreement with me on Melo's dirtiness. 1/2 agree but love it, 1/2 disagree, and 1/10 agree with me.

Spot on Lambeer was a dirty player as he'd push and shove and trip AWAY from the ball. When he was near the ball that's when he took the gloves off with hugely exaggerated movements to get players to move back at best and to put a hurt on them at worse. His fouls were pretty much all flagrant, but as it was his style he got away with it.

Yea, don't lead cops on a 115mph chase.

And it wasn't a spontaneous reaction, it was a violent character brought to light.

My point is, aggressive dirty hoops leads to scuffles, which can lead to life threatening injuries.

it's only a foul if you hear a whistle.

metra - Don't hate Melo, hate Danilo Gallinari making Top Plays on SportsCenter this morning.

I don't hate Melo. And why would I hate Gallo? I love all the Knicks West, except Al.

Gallinari, in 6 less minutes per game, is dropping 16 points on only 9 field goal attempts, and he's grabbing more boards, hitting more free throws.

Karl even said he knew the guys they got were good, it's just that were better than he expected...much better. He's happy in Denver right now.

That wasn't dirty. Dirty to me is when you under cut somebody when they are airborne or blind siding somebody and lowering your shoulder into them. The grabbing stuff is just basketball.

Amare can't even box out these days. He is left with face-guarding his guy and pushing him. It's pretty sad.

So true he has lost all concept of rebounding. Last night I saw the rebound go one way and Amare looking another not a clue that the shot even went up. His rebounding has gone past the point of pathetic.

It's gotta be effort. Amare just doesn't want to do it. Maybe he didn't want to pick up the fouls last night.

I don't see why fouls should come into play, if you do the necessary things to rebound like boxing out and positioning and going after the basketball like its yours, I don't see a reason he would pick up a foul. He is totally lost he has no concept of doing the necessary things to get a rebound.

amear may have some physical issues going on. but imo he's also got some emotional reactions going on. this is a big hit for him ego-wise. he was big-time top dawg, "mvp" chants, letterman show, vogue cover, "savior" status of the franchise, all these younger, meeker players deferring to him. now he's melo's caddy. that’s a HUGE downgrade. i don’t care how professional and together the guy is, this game is played on a huge stage of publicity and celebrity and he’s having to go through a massive adjustment, which i think is affecting his play and effort.
