He is in year three and last year there were a lot of posts comparing the Knicks roster to Milwaukee's however the results were much different. For all of the talk about D'Antoni having to continually go through transistions with his roster in 09-10 he started the year with the same team as the previous year with only the additions of Darko, Hill and Douglas. None of those guys played anyway so there was no big adjustment. At the deadline picks and guys that he wouldn't play were moved. Last year really was a stable year aside from the coach/player drama that occured until Walsh cleared guys out at the deadline.

You're cherry picking the different points changes were made, but as of right now Tony Douglas is the longest tenured Knick and Jared coming back if you want to get technical. This is more than just a new group. These guys are almost strangers in terms of what you want to compete in the Playoffs.

He had his team last year for almost the entire previous season. That is almost two years of a three year run. He also was very rigid in his player rotation and guys that came in after his first season did not get to play. That isn't cherry picking. I have watched and followed all three of his seasons. I am one of the few that won't dismiss the damage he did during his first two years and if someone provides a forum to reference it I will.

Did it really matter what he did with the rotation with the players we had? You make it sound like we had this great roster that was somehow held back by coaching. Who are these players you're thinking of?

he had two throw away years and should have done a better job of developing youth (Douglas & Hill) and trying to give guys like Darko more leeway to work themselves out of whatever funk/dog house they were in.

His first year, he won too many games and cost us a chance of getting Stephen Curry. Serious- maybe that is on MDA or Walsh or both, but had we tanked it, we'd have way more assets than we do now.

To me the key thing here is to get someone that Melo will listen to. It doesn't seem even Chauncey is getting through to him (though maybe Chauncey has given up and does not want to be here, given he is a Denver native and was uprooted).

What veteran players can we bring on this team that Melo would listen to? Do any players in the league even exist that fit this bill?

He doesn't seem like a very coachable person, and I'm not sure any coach would be able to get through to him... you need a player he respects. Maybe Michael Jordan in his prime? I don't see Melo listening to Kobe.

Rose is not the answer.
