Well this IS kinda funny coming from someone who still hasnt profen he understands the difference between Europe and South America...
Man now seriously wheres that hate for the old world coming from?!

In terms of a basketball playing style derived from a futbol (or soccer as we Americans call it)aesthetic there is "zero" difference between the teams in Europe & those from South America. I think everyone here knew what i was talking about in referencing the "Euro" penchant for flopping to draw fouls but if you need I can provide a lineage of coaches & when & how various countries in both Europe & South America joined international play, so that you can see this connection more clearly.
As far as "hate" for the "old world", I was trying to highlight something critical that we lost in the Melo trade & that is the ability to curry favor with the refs based on both Gallo's ability to flop & their penchant for seeing a little bit of themselves in him. Valuable factors indeed.

So Melo is failing because The Man is keeping him down by not giving him calls, because the refs are racist.

When is a brother going to get a fair shake in the hoops game?

Blob, cut it out. Can we get back to posting about bball? Thanks.

The proof is all here in this Facebook page dedicated to the greater glory of Euro style Baloncésto

LOL!!! Man I gotta give you props for actually finding this page!!! 11 members says it all though...
Still think this thinking in sterotyps is ridiculous especially in this debate!!! Have you ever played against some croation or serbian players on a court? Tough tough games man! Wanna talk about batteling somebody for each and every ball, throwing ellbows and wanting to win any meaningless game you will find it all on european streetball courts too. I played against Americans, Asians and Europeans aplenty and even though the american style of play might sometimes be more athletic its a) not better basketball and b) not tougher per se...

Your just stating stereotyps man. This is for love of the game man... basketball is loved all over the world and thats a beauty! Instead of hating different styles you should appreciate what this globalisation of the sport has brought to it over the years!!! Im not talking flopping which you see watching american players too but the fundamental beauty and perfect form of jumpshoters coming out of the "old" jugoslavian bball school, the art of sharing the ball european teams are so fond of as well as the athletic game of the american bball style.

Dodger, those Jugoslav teams of the 80s, and even before that, were a force. I was born in the 80s and so I missed out on a lot of the good days, I was not old enough to fully appreciate, but my father has told me many times about the Jugoslav prowess, in soccer, in hoops. It's a nostalgic point you bring up. Being from that country and watching it fall apart in a bloody war, personally watching it, I can't help but think what could have been and why did it all have to end this way.

You're talking Red Star winning the Champions League, or its equivalent, in 1990. You're talking the golden class of Yugoslav basketball, Petrovic, Kukoc, Divac. It was always mostly Croatia and Serbia, 4 million and 8 or 9 million people, respectively. Something to be proud of, I think, for any Former Yugoslav and also any European.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Blob glad to hear you having these nostalgic memories and thoughts and rightfully so... I think there are many things in sports where (not only the balcan region) has had great great acomplishments in the past.
Most european regions have these memories and understanding of great sports teams and I think thats one of the beauties of growing up and living in Europe. We always had and have to deal with so many different mentalities and cultures around us that I for my part feel very glad to be able to learn from them.
Like I mentioned the ex-Yugoslav ballers have always great heart and crazy fundamentals and understanding of the game.
