This team would be so much better if Melo were averaging 24 pts per game, with 6 assists, 8 rebounds, and 49% FG percentage, and I think he could get to these numbers if he passed up some of the bad shots he is taking and looked to pass more. I do think it will get better, but he will always be a chucker to some degree. That is just how he plays.

i hope so. he's a major major weapon. his fga's don’t seem to have held chauncey back from averaging 23 points and amear 27. we are loaded and have to take advantage of our offensive firepower.

Yep 23pts on 21FGA is about the ratio you want from an Elite player

he's averaging 25 points on 21 shots so far for us.

for his career he’s averaging 25 points on 19 shots.

that's his game. you didn’t know that before we got him?

TheGame - you make an excellent point. Think of it this way - if Carmelo was NOT a "chucker" (ie forcer of shots) would he be Wilson Chandler?

Or does it matter more that the shot goes IN at the right time? Does a team need a chucker to be able to force, and MAKE, a shot when every other option is exhausted, or guys are standing around?

Is the ability to make a "chucked" shot a trait of a superstar?

Actually I did and was never enamored with his style of play. It's very little to be desired

Now I've seen it all. So you have to be a chucker to be a top player in this league?

Is Dirk a chucker? Is Tim Duncan a chucker?

Melo is a chucker who will never win a championship, and it pains me to say that as a Knicks fan. Rest in Peace, 2010-2019.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

all right that's totally cool imo. it's when guys expect him to be a different player here than he's been his whole career that i think it stops making sense.

Lets take a look at some other volume shooters/scorers:

Derrick Rose 20 FGA per
Kevin Durant 20.1 FGA per
Carmelo Anthony 19.2 FGA per (Haven't adjusted for his Knick stats)
Kobe Bryant 19/20 FGA per
Lebron James 20 (career stats)
Dwyane Wade 20 (career stats)

If you have an elite scorer on your team, they are going to take a high volume of shots, and with volume, there will be some bad ones in the mix.

Dude your love for Gallo has clouded your thinking. The man has already been to WCF. If not for the Lakers he reaches the finals. You have combined the top players from quite a few WCFs in Amare and Melo. The Knicks have increased their chances ten folds to win a chip.

The Truth About Chucking Is Apparent To Marv And The Answer Man

Q. orangeblobman - Is Tim Duncan a chucker?

A. Negative. He is the Big Fundamentals

Q. orangeblobman - Is Dirk a chucker?

A. You can't be a chucker at 6'11 because at 6'11 there is no such thing as a forced shot

Q. orangeblobman - So you have to be a chucker to be a top player in this league?

A. Precisely. It ain't chucking when it goes in. It's only chucking when it rims out.

License To Chuck

"Melo is a chucker who will never win a championship"

orangeblobman - you sound exactly like Stephon Marbury when he said the same thing about Charlie Ward. That is some fast company.

It pains me to say that as a Knicks fan.

With that said, I'm looking forward to Landry Fields chucking up 20 shots in the near future.

how interesting is this one: "bulls**t"

the one thing he is a proven career scorer. his previous game - WHEN HE COULD SEE - wasn't he 10-16?

glad you want to jump on his ass for trying to play through an eye injury. also glad the ref didn’t even bother to call a foul on the play. Naturally it was that total prick whoreford who hit him.

So I take it that you feel strongly about this?

...And you do know that I'm not the OP?... although I'm strong enough to take your barrage.

you and me in a seniors cage??

i knew you weren't the op. you just threw such a good assist i had to convert for you

Yeah- kind of figured that. Just wanted to take a poke at you because of your uncharacteristic vitriol.

I'm not one to hold back on criticizing Anthony, but he had some nice assist moments yesterday.

I may embrace him if he shows me a game long gutty defensive effort against a non-Lebron opponent.

“We’re not going to shoot like that, I don’t think. There’s
not going to be a game where we only miss six or seven
shots combined … We hope we go out there and score 30
points and we win and everybody else contributes in their
own way, but for me personally, I don ’t want to do that. I
don’t want to put that pressure on me to go out there and
say that I want to score 30 points a night. I’m past that
now.”

Since we are quoting Melo...this was him after last night's game.

Thank You. At least there are some people here that know their stuff. All this negativity is crazy. A lot of people don't like Melo and post the same crap every day.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

for those of us keeping score at home (and that means......about all of us) melo as a knick is averaging 26ppg on 45% shooting, 40% from 3, with 8fta's, 6 boards, 3 assists and a steal.

booyah!
