I think he said "deepest" team, not "best" team (and that's if you take him at his word). It's subject to debate whether it's better to be good at every position and stellar at none, vs, stellar at some and weak at some. I think both situations argue for future changes/additions.

We had 116 possessions this game(btw Magic only had 87) If you just ran into him a bunch of times he would have fouled, a lot. And to take him out of the game he only needs a few fouls per quarter. Without him the Magic is poop. I understand that he is a great shot blocker, but the advantage is on our side here because the refs can only bail him out so many times per game, given how many posessions per game we usually have. Magic should be our biatches, all day, every day.

Where do you find the possession numbers?

Actually, I made a mistake, 116 to 87 are shot attempts. To get possessions I forgot to add the turnovers. It was 124 possessions for us to 103 possessions for them.

You can't calculate it this way. Shot attempts where the player is fouled do not show up.

If its a shooting foul they sure do. Thats why its a shooting foul. Player gets fouled, misses and goes to the line. If he gets fouled and makes it, its an and-1 play, still a shot attempt. The only possessions that I can think of that don't show up are non-shooting fouls when the team is over the limit. You get to shoot free throws, the possession is over and I don't believe it counts as a shot attempt. Maybe thats what you meant. MDA does not like to send teams to the line, so these types of possessions almost never happen with our opponents. Still, this whole season we have had consistently been 10+ or more in possessions. My point was that our advantage in possessions could be exploited by Melo running into Howard and looking not to score but to foul him out. Howard is a big guy, does not draw charges, and having smaller Melo run into him would work in our favor.

Whatever happens this season doesn't take away the fact that we have a solid core of stars in the big three and a few solid role players like Fields, Turiaf, and even JJ. (others could step up soon). Do we have everything against us, from lack of chemistry, lack of depth especially at the 5, and unrealistic expectations for this year? Sure, but we took a step towards a championship this season and from now on we have a better chance to reach that level than before.

Can you guys please get over the trade already?

Its only a few games since the trade- it is not possible to "get over the trade" this early on.

It will even get worse, though, if the Knicks continue to be hot/cold, and Denver keeps playing like they have since Melo left, and the 4 players we gave up become important members of a team on the rise.

Our "solid core of stars," despite their talents, also have many blemishes in their respective games, especially on the defensive end.

You would think trading for a 'superstar' would yield immediate positive results, and the team receiving the 'role players' would struggle early.

But now we're told that, having traded for a 'superstar', we have to wait, wait for this wait for that, while the 'role players' we sent are winning something close to 85% of their games.

George Karl was quoted as saying his post trade team is the best team he has had in the last 5 and half years. The Knicks gave up way too much and that doesn't even include the cap space or draft pick.

Didn't say best. By the way how many games did Denver win before they drafted Carmelo? 17 wins. Then his rookie year they won 43 games. Yes it is Carmelo who was holding back the Nuggets from a championship. All he did was make them a winning franchise that got to the playoffs every year. Watch what happens when they start coming back down to Earth.

Thats just George Karl being a prick as he usually is and taking another shot a player that carried that franchise for years. When this current Denver team can get to the western conference finals and extend the Lakers, then we can have a debate.
