But

He is 6'11 hustles and does not need to score with this team. He already knows how to play here!

Ohh and he comes for free.

He will help more then hurt

Apparently, you hate him more than anyone in the NBA, but not more than me.

Is there a defensive center available?

If not, then what's wrong with signing a low-cost defensive 6.11 guy?

exactly. also, jeffries will give us help guarding guys like lebron/bosh, kg/pierce.

jeffries can guard multiple positions. he guarded other wing players and point guards at times as well. he's versatile, which is useful. i can very well see us having amar'e, melo and jj on the floor at the same time. actually, that gives us pretty good size.

melo is also a damn good rebounder, if not the best boarding small forward in the league.

the main issue would be shot blocking.

on the cheap, he's very good value, and he already knows the system and the coaching staff.

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

Shoot me now.

You honestly think Jeffries will be featured on offense? With Amare, Melo and Billups on the team?

Is that a joke? Who in their right mind would ever suggest Jeffries be "featured on offense"?
Unless we're talking about a YMCA pickup game.

If your talking about his value on defense, Balkman and Brewer are better defenders and already on the team. We needed someone with more bulk and rebounding ability. Jefferies, considering his height/athleticism, is a very below average rebounder. I really think Balkman is a better player than this guy and we already have to pay him

Balk and Brewer may be better athletes and could be better 1-on-1 defenders but Jefferies helps team defense in ways neither of those guys even understand.

He directs traffic same way Turiaf sorta does. And he is a more versatile defender.

So why do you think he's going to get to shoot airballs then?

Bingo.

(except, I hate Al Harrington more than Jeffries.)

Has everyone forgotten all the blown layups and horrific jump shots. My God have you guys lost all sense of right and wrong Jefferies is a terrible player hence Houston dumping him. Please for the love of God avoid Jared Jeffries at all cost. Donnie don't do it man Jeffries is not the answer.

People have such short term memories. Nevermind the friggin THREE POINTERS he launch in his last year here, Jeffries regularly shoots airballs. If you're on the court in an NBA game, it is expected that when you are open, you shoot the ball. And Jeffries will be open a lot, as he will be the worst offensive player on the court.
Don't even tell me you've not seen him shoot an airball.

Jared Jeffries buyout with Houston is official, sources tell The News. Will be free agent on Tues. Knicks lead with Mia, NO & OKC involved

If Jeffries is so horrible, why are Miami, New Orleans and Oklahoma - all playoffs teams - looking to sign him?

Calm yourself. No-one's memory is off. I remember him shooting airballs. Of course, he was playing for a team that didn't have Billups, Amare or Anthony on the team at that time.

I seriously doubt that Jeffries will get to shoot for this team, except maybe if the clock is expring.

it makes no sense that we fought to have brewer included in the trade and bring back jeffries to play him over brewer...

i'm not a big fan of either player but brewer has way more offensive game than jeffries... i understand team defense is important but rebounding is even more important on defense and that hurts us more than his lack of offensive game...

So if I understand correctly, Jeffries will never shoot the ball unless the clock is expiring. Is that what you're saying? So we'll be playing 4 on 5 when he's on the floor, is that right?
