Say "No" to JJ. We need a center who can rebound, not a long perimeter defender. We have Corey Brewer who is 6'9 and can play very good perimeter defense and who also isn't a very good shooter. Since we couldn't trade Corey, we might as well use him as back-up SF for his defense.

Gotta love this board. Everyone claims to think that defense wins championships. But no-one wants Jeffries, an actual defender. Yes, he's crap offensively, but he's a good defender. And do we really need more scorers on this team?

Even if, as c2d noted, he's not a center (though he would get time at center!), he would be a good 10-15 defensively a night.

Sure, we'll still have deficiencies after this, but I'm on board. According to one of Hahn's blogs, it sounds like Murphy wants to go to a contender. We can still waive Mason/Carter and sign Barron as another big body, but that's probably the best we can get for the remainder of the year.

(Hahn also suggesting Donnie is looking at TJ Ford as a backup point).

Jeffries can play better than some dudes at the end of our bench.

What, you'd rather keep Roger Mason? Rautins? Balkman? Carter?

He's a capable 6'11" guy who knows our system. And he's free. What possible problem is there with signing him.

Jeffries is a good stopgap pickup for a big man here. MDA has a ton of confidence in him and he is a solid defender. Until we find a true starting center, Jeffries will do.

Maybe now that he is not an "evil salary" guy, he may play better offense. He was balling when it came to defense, and defense on big men. Troy Murphy is an amazing option, rebounding and 3 pt shooting, but he has stated he wanted to play for four contenders, all not the Knicks.

Helps solve our defensive woes A LITTLE, but Jefferies isn't going to mean that much. He's a good energizer for 13 minutes. We really need someone like Dalembert.
