He has no future with this team going forward. He has a 300% 2011 Cap Hit which comes to about $11.2mil compare that to Chandler's $6.5mil. The only thing he provides is 26gms worth of depth(maybe playoffs depth) that's it. He's a total misfit in this system. And he can only be traded by himself.

His cap hit is pretty irrelevant considering the Knicks are over the cap next year.

That said, it doesn't really matter. The Knicks can choose to renounce him if they like.

We can get under the cap if we trade Turiaf/Balkman/Douglas which we should think about. Especially if the cap reaches $60mil. Brewer is nothing but filler a miniscule temporary save face keep sake

You're saying the Knicks should get under the cap for 2011? Why?

The key now is to shuffle the role players around our big guys to make the team work.

I'd like to see if Corey Brewer fits here... he's got all-world athleticism and good skill-set and great defensive instints. I could see a guy like him thriving in the playoffs.

Why try to get under the cap heading into the lockout?

Makes sense to keep the assets we have heading into uncertain CBA territory.

We already have Williams and Walker plaing SF and SG of the bench, I don't see him getting minutues unless he plays better than these 2.

He is a good defender and nice athlete, so like it has been mentioned he is a nice complmentay player to what we have. He might also shoot better if all his shots are going to be wide open, which they will be.

At the end of the day I don't know if he will beat out Walker for the backup SG minutes though since Walker has proven to be a reliable shooter.

I don't understand why people are complaining about deapth at the wings, with Melo, Fields, Williams and Walker I think we are very well stacked at 2/3.

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Yeah, they should move one or two of those wings for Ramon Sessions.

I think Brewer has one big thing on Walker - he RUNS. MDA doesn't like that Walker doesn't run the court full speed. Brewer runs it at about light speed - meaning the speed of light.

I think if Brewer stays, he plays. If not he'll be flipped and I'd hope it's for a PG like Sessions. Or maybe a big man.

Shawne Williams plays more of a 3/4 role in this offense than a 2/3, so I don't know if he counts as a wing.

I like how people are hating on a top ten pick who was playing on Minnesota. Wasn't it just last year there was a campaign for Corey to be voted Most improved Player? God people are so negative in these forums. It was just last year he shot .430 and almost .350 from 3point range. Come on now.

Alan Hahn saying we also got a 1st rounder from Minny in addition to Brewer:

"The Knicks get Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups, along with former Knick Renaldo Balkman, forward Shelden Williams and guard Anthony Carter from Denver and Corey Brewer and, though I can't entirely confirm it, it sounds like a first round pick from Minnesota, as well."

Anyone else got this?? Confirmed yet?

If we really got a 1st from Minny, than this trade is starting to swing in our favor for sure.

Ken Berger from CBSsports has refuted that the Knicks got any picks from Minnesota... we shall see when it all shakes out tomorrow.

SI is reporting that we get a 2nd rounder from Minny, not a first.

New York will also receive a second-round pick and Corey Brewer from the Timberwolves, with Eddy Curry's expiring contract, Anthony Randolph and $3 million heading to Minnesota.

i don't get why we threw our 2nd rounders in there which came over from GS...

getting a 2nd from minny almost offsets that but including those 2nd rounders was totally unnecessary imo....

I agree..We gave them everything AND the kitchen sink. Oh well..Under the bridge now..Here's hoping this 2 we just picked up will be Minny's 2011 2 not something further down the road..If it's for this summer, the pick projects to go 31-35..We can definitely get a player there.
