I wouldn't mind seeing gone after this season and Jerry Sloan brought in. This is no longer an team. This is a team thats more geared towards halfcourt playoff basketball which melo and billups will thrive in. I don't see how adapts his style to fit this team all of a sudden

yeah, that does suck. I hope Donnie rides it out though. I know its a difficult situation for him but shoot. The Knicks keep their best young player and get an ASG starter. I am happy, all things considered.

I'm happy the deal got done but Isiah taking the place of the guy who cleaned up his mess, and ran cover for him, would be too much.
If Warkentien took his place and Isiah stayed in the shadows, I could live with that but not with the rat back in charge.

it's no secret that I am happy Melo is here. But I have said before I won't support the team in any way if Isiah is given the reigns. As long as Donnie is titled as being in charge, he can influence some sanity and some restraint. I think the Knicks gave up a ton and Donnie himself would've gotten less. But could you imagine all the excess salary Isiah would've assumed to get Melo?

It would have been ugly. It still could be. I could see Isiah getting fixated on one aging veteran who he believes is the missing piece and puts the Knicks in a hole for years getting him. Now they are back in cap hell and Melo and Stat go into their 30s without getting to the finals. Still isn't over unfortunately.

Seems like Warkentien might still be working for Denver based on how we were fleeced.

Lol, cheer up Paladin it could work out.

The sad thing is people would trade Walsh for Melo & Isiah.

Not sure some of you understand the magnitude of what just happened and where the franchise is now headed.

This is a major regression in terms of management decision making, and a slap in the face to Walsh, the guy who brought this team back to legitimacy. It is also, as some of you will see, a poor basketball move for the long-term

Donnie carries Dolan and the Knicks on his shoulders through the muck and quicksand that Isiah had put them in, and sets them on the path to respectability, only to have Dolan and Isiah (most likely) go behind his back and over his head to humiliate him in the eyes of the basketball world and make some of the most unnecessary concessions to acquire a player that we have have seen.

I came back as a more vocal Knicks' fan and a poster on this forum (never knew it existed before I joined)because Walsh was called in to clean up the stink that Dolan and Isiah had created and I really thought he would be able to do it with minimal interference.

Sadly, I was wrong.

bad day for operations, good day for procurement

I will say that Walker and Williams appear ready for more responsibility. I am curious about Rautins too

Carmelo is one step above Zach Randolph. Nothing more.

I cannot disagree with your position any more than I do

Well then you are severely overrating the type of player Carmelo Anthony is.

heh. compare Randolph's CV to Melo's

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmelo_Anthony
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zach_Randolph

Melo's career accomplishments are far and significantly better than Zach's

Ah man, I better be able to use Wiki in the future to determine a player's impact on a franchise. Innovative.

All right. if you're going to be smart, the reason I think you don't have a clue is because he was in 4 All Star games, the 2002-03 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, a four time All NBA, 55th in All Time PER, and has a 59% chance at the Hall of Fame according to basketballreference.com

but, hey, fall back into form and be a sour little puss when someone disagrees with you. now that was innovative

we gave up to much no matter how good melo is, or how happy you are..

And if we don't start winning off the jump, they will be screaming blood murder for MDA's head

Your points have nothing to do with me commenting on "Carmelo is one step above Zach Randolph. Nothing more." That's what this is about.

But to your points, I believe the Knicks got Melo cheaper than Boston got KG for and the Heat got Shaq for. I remember Kobe didn't get traded to Chicago because they had to keep Luol Deng because he may become a star. I don't think anyone will regret this when Donnie finishes construction. By 2012, this team is going to be pretty darn good

I know you don't post here any more--but eat it

Tyson Chandler called Anthony an MVP candidate before the game and afterward said, “He should be at the top of the race right now. We’re playing the best basketball, and he’s playing all over the floor on both ends.’’
