It's too bad that you had to attach this to your previous post: "and [if] your answer is I have no idea, I just like the IDEA that maybe they might be able to sometime in the future, then you lose credibility." when asking me to come up with some scenarios; I guess an in kind response is too much to ask.
Martin, you're missing the point. You and I are advocating different positions. I am advocating action, you are advocating waiting, so it is your responsibility to express what you're waiting for.
I asked you to complete your thought - to establish what you're bypassing Melo for so it's credibility can be evaluated.
My thought is complete. Get Melo (at a price). Work from there. My answer (i don't know) accurately answers your question.
Besides believing 'Melo enhances and not hinders the chance to get Paul, I don't know. But as I'm not offering a definitive answer as a criteria for doing something, I don't fairly have to.
And I believe I've said this to you before as well.
Landry Fields was a 2nd round draft pick.
David Lee was a 30th.
Wilson Chandler a 23rd.
Douglas was purchased as a 29th pick.
Rajon Rondo was a 23rd selection.
Jameer Nelson was 17 I believe.
Serge Ibaka was 24.
Mosgoz wasn't drafted when he was eligible.
The idea that the Knicks supporting cast will be forever be static if they get Melo is pure fatalism, ignoring (very) recent history.
