Please. You know he had his people send a message. He's supposed to meet with Proko on Thurs Jan 21st and Proko gets on national TV on Wed Jan 20th and bows out of the sweepstakes, clearly frustrated?

You think Proko didn't hear something?

Of course Melo didn't come out and say anything... that's why he has an agent.

I think no matter what Melo says publicly, this guy wants to be with the Knicks. He'll get his money and the City he wants to be in. I feel good about this coming weekend. I think Melo and his agent are smart enough to know that the NY situation is a MUCH better look for Melo than being a Net. That team isn't close to being a good team and they've got an uphill battle to build a real fanbase. Why identify yourself with losing and an unsettled situation, when you can go to the top franchise and a much better roster as well?

I'm pretty sure Amar'e has told him just how sweet it is being a star here. I'm sure he's paid attention to the way STAT has been received here as well. Who wouldn't want that verses the low profile Net situation?

Seems like a reach..but maybe, just maybe...they were frustrated that the Nuggets would not make a decision and the distraction it was causing to their team. I have to be sure they didn't spend a month or so working on a trade only to find out Carmelo doesn't want to come at the last minute. That was probably the first thing they checked out.

According to a Knicks official, Denver wants Raymond Felton, Landry Fields, Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari — four of their top six players — for Carmelo Anthony and an aging Chauncey Billups. The Nuggets have also asked about Timofey Mozgov.

The price is too high for the Knicks. It would damage the roster, leaving Anthony and Stoudemire without a supporting cast.

Donnie Walsh, the Knicks’ president, has been willing to part with one top rotation player — Chandler or Gallinari — in addition to Eddy Curry’s expiring contract and a draft pick. The Knicks believe they are dealing from a position of strength, armed with the knowledge that Anthony wants to play in New York and could by signed as a free agent this summer.

if they knew he would extend with them why would they have needed to set up a meeting with him?

To get Carmelo acquainted with the owner and see where the franchise is heading. Basically to cool any fears he may have over doing so.

Nets are garbage now and they'll continue to be garbage after a big Melo deal. I just don't see how his agent would allow him to pass up getting his money and being on a team that is much closer to contending and already has an elite player in the no. 1 franchise in the NBA. They're gonna tell the Nets, NO THANKS.

Ha ha- that has to be a joke! What, the Nets deal, which they felt was overpaying, was Favors and Harris and a few draft picks, but the Nuggets want Felton (about equal to Harris), Fields (better than favors at the moment), Gallo AND Chandler AND a draft pick AND possibly Mosgov?!?!?!

Ludicrous isn't it? Carmelo is Vince Carter on Steroids and they want (Felton/Billups aside -- let's assume best case this is a wash)
Gallo,Chandler,Fields, Mosgov and a number one pick - -WOW -- they really don't want to trade him do they!! They are trying to save face in front of their Fan base - -Absolutely unbelievable - -Donnie will NEVER do it thank goodness - -I even believe he can convince Dolan not to do this one!

Nags have some inside info about Isiah still running the show...
So I think their demands are reasonable.
Isiah and Dolan will also add the Street Dencers and historical Marbs truck to the deal to have Carmelo in NY before All-star break....

Melo should just stay in Denver. Any of these trade scenarios leaves him worse off with respect to chasing a championship.

This is exactly what Nags game plan is. To present it this way to Melo.
Good job actually..

Broussard just said that Melo is frustrated with Knicks inability to put something together and the fact that they want to hold on to certain players - are you kidding me? Melo wants the team gutted so he can get paid to lose in NY?

Rumor is D. Howard wants to play for L.A. - interesting.

I've been all about getting Melo this year but it's obvious Denver does not want to send Melo here. 5 players and a pick? You have to f'n kidding me

Felton, Chandler, Gallo, Mosgov, Fields and a pick for Melo and Billups. What part of DW stating he would not gut the team doesn't Denver understand!!!! Broussard is an idiot. He also said that the Knicks are not willing to give uo what are essentially role players. Role players??? 4 of our starters and they're roll players.

Melo's team is upset over the situation and all Melo has to do is say he won't sign an extension with the Nets. If he really want's to come here he'll say it or sign with us during the summer. I am done with this nonsense. Screw Denver, let's pick up a big man and roll what we have with and see what happens this summer.

Who wins and who loses is always been in Melo's hands.

Remember up until Billups came to town Melo was an immature punk. His ability to rationalize and reason has never been in question as its never been his strength.

He has handled this badly and while he claims to want one thing he is in fact dragging this along like a true attention whore who likely has a Lebron phobia of not getting the attention he feels he deserves. He don't want it, but he still has to have it to substantiate his star status. We really want this guy in the locker room? Especially after the team was gutted?

Just my take. By getting his extension and a knick trade he would have one upped on lebron because he got his preferred city AND his money. Lebron did not get the money.

What is not happening is he has not demonstrated the level of commitment towards his statement that he would be willing to risk the money and opt out. They got those "Lie to ME" experts to figure him out and Denver thinks Melo goes with the money.

There is a lot at stake here for Denver and everyone is posturing to come out looking good.

If Dolan screws this up you'll understand his priorities. You won't like it. If Walsh screws it up be thankful he would not over pay for Vince II. If Denver screws it up its their loss and knicks gain. Melo has waffled and everyone knows it.

Lebron was quite clear on his quest and mentally divorced himself last season. Seems Melo can't quite commit to leaving because of the money. Lebron did not factor money into his decision. Melo has. Thus the conflict.

If money was not the issue he would commit to opting out and force Denver to deal with us. Instead Denver is empowered.

melo can have two of the three components. Quality Roster (one not depleted by trade), Top tier Money, or NY-Brooklyn.

Or he can stay in Denver for the money.

What I think will happen? It don't matter what I think. It matters what I know.

I'm still not sure I understand what Melo has done wrong in this situation.
I just hope that people will like me
