Its seems many treating this team like a perennial playoff contender who is faltering and needs an injection.

Maybe you can't rebuild cause once NY sniff some kind of success it loses its mind. We all crave a championship but its not that easy. Melo does not put us over the top.

enough already with the same old you can't rebuild in NY stuff we've been hearing it for the past 5 years already... Knick fans have been ridiculously patient, have stuck by their team & keep selling out the Garden even after years of dealing with Scott Layden & Isiah's bullcrap & empty promises... DW has been talking about the plan for 2010 ever since he got here, the entire premise to clearing cap space the past 2 years has been to get to this point where we could target 2 superstars to form the nucleus for a championship contending team... if DW had gone by your anti-starphuching line of thinking we'd still have David Lee playing C & Amare would be playing someplace else.

Thats your interpretation of the "Plan".

and basically you have to jump on jump on it NOW is what your saying.

If no 13-1 run the bar would be lower. On that streak the team was extrapolating towards a top 4 finish in the east by most fans will little concern about schedule or ebb and flow. Now we are on a reverse course sinking lower and lower.

Fans can't handle the big picture.

Example now everyone is bitching because Gallo is not bombing away like he used to but we used to complain about him not driving. Now everyone is bitching about his "midrange". Its either too long, now too short and now he needs another tool! Jeez, can we just label the 22 year old a work in progress?

Uesed to be MDA don't develope yoots, now we have and we want to trade them for a "Savior" who is a great player but does not address our real needs.

MDA does not have faith in yoots but he starts two rookies.

MDA does not play defense? Last year we didn't have shot blockers. This year we lead the league.

MDA don't have rebounders? Throw in fields with Chandler and your losing rebounds even with Melo.

MDA does not develop yoot. 26 year old Felton looks like Nash on some nites. Progress is "SOME". Fulfillment is all the time. This team has yet to fulfill. You don't add 10 new players and do it in half a season. Our run early took teams by suprise and they have adjusted.

This team has done a great job this year.

Nobody knew what Plan B was going to be and Im sure if we look back over what a "Disaster" not getting Lebron was to see what progress we in fact made is overall pretty impressive.

nobody says starphuchng does not work. Boston is a starphuch as is Miami. Boston has yielded on championship and Miami situation was a freak of collusion.

I don't let the media sway my thinking and the writing after lasts nites game was pure crap.

Overpay against yourself for Melo and you cost yourself a championship. Perhaps that is really Dolans goal anyway. To just keep it relevant and profitable. Thats what the 1990's were about in my opinion.

We don't need melo, we need another big, a shooting guard and a backup point. You may "want" melo but thats different.

i think the boston plan has been a total success which shouldn’t be downgraded to "one championship." they went from nothing to champs in one year - absolutely amazingly successful rebuild. they held on to 2 young guys (rondo and perkins) who were the perfect complement to the 'big 3." they returned to the finals, played an epic 7-game series and came within one quarter of winning their 2nd championship. they’ve been at or near the top of the league this year. total success story.

We don't need melo, we need another big, a shooting guard and a backup point. You may "want" melo but thats different.

how good do those 3 need to be? how much do you need to give up for them? who are you willing to part with?

+1. That's exactly what he is doing: Hedging his bets. He's planning to come to NY as a FA. He just needs to manage his rep in Denver until it's time to scram.

be careful lumping "everyone" in together not everyone has criticized everything since the beginning of the season, we've seen plenty of positive comments directed at MDA & DW for the progress they've seen this season... doesn't mean people should cease to have any further expectations for improvement... adding a player like Melo may not be the answer to all our problems but it's a start & definite improvement over what we have now at the SF position... & i got news for u a backup C & PG are not going to get us to where we want to go regardless of what we might "need"... there's no such thing as a 1 move cure all for our team's ills, we need to target stages of moves to get to where we want to get to... getting the key players to build around are the first moves u need to make in any rebuild... Melo can be a major step in that process, just like Amare was this past summer... no one wants the Knicks to overpay to get Melo, the only ones who even talk about us having to gut our roster to get Melo are the ones who've been complaining about how he wouldn't make us a better team all year.

I have a REAL BAD feeling that this is EXACTLY what is going to happen! Denver is going to call Mello's bluff & NOT TRADE HIM! Mello is then going to get scared of losing out due to the CBA and sign the freaking extension with Denver. All of this BS will have been for nothing!

Why would you have your agent publicly say that you would only sign an extension with the Knicks one day and then the next day say, well if I don't get traded I might sign the extension with Denver!!! You just took away all of the leverage that you gained with the previous statement you DUMB-ASS! WTF, I am so tired of this crap!

I was just gonna post something similar but you beat me to it bro..WTF is he doing?? I mean why come out and say that publicly?? Melo, buddy, do you want Amar'e & NY or no? It really does diminish his leverage a little bit when he starts talking like that..Makes very little sense to come out and say something like that -- signing that extension is and has always been a given if he indeed wants to stay. It's something that will always be there as a fallback plan right up until the offseason..I thought he wanted more than that..We already have enough pressure on us, why add more pressure? He knows damn well we're trying to get him w/o gutting the entire team, which is what I thought he wanted..Sit tight Melo and let us work on this..We've all come this far. He keeps talking like this, he'll wind up unnecessarily costing the team valueable resources/teammates he & STAT could be playing with next year..

I felt pretty good about this yesterday, now I dunno man..This whole thing is starting to feel more like a 50/50 shot now -- starting to get the feeling DEN really may not deal him now, esp when he starts talking crazy like this. He and his guys have got to come down on one side and work that angle..You always have to keep all your options open I suppose but it's kinda weird to now all of a sudden watch him play both sides of the fence like this. He's come all this way to now panic in the 11th hour??!!? Come on bro, WTF..Stay to course..Why make Denver feel like they have a shot now?? I mean how hard are they looking to deal him now after comments like that??

that's why I say - - let's move on -- make a couple incremental changes before the deadline and save the splash for the summer.

gotta disagree there... I prefer to make my own destiny as opposed to waiting for it to show up

the moves u can make are very limited, u can only make moves for expiring contracts if you want to maintain the flexibility to make the splash this summer... i don't think anything appeciable will get done until this Melo situation is settled 1 way or the other.

Amazing lack of trades this year do to CBA and MeloDrama.

Does Denver really want a Max player who really does not want to be there and is apparently signing for the money?

As franchise cuts corners might be get more disgruntled? He gets traded down the road but Denver gets more back, but the new team Melo goes to is more depleted.

Many angles and over thinking on this. Two weeks.

We all are sick of it, yet we all love too!

Reporter: "Melo, if you are not traded by the deadline, would you reconsider your extension"?
Melo: "I would take a hard look at it."
Reporter: "woowoo story!"
Melo: "I've said that all year. I would also take a hard look at opting out."
Reporter: "Gonna skip that last part, not enough hits to website if I write that."

Once they sign him they can still trade him to the highest bidder.

Yea but I dont see them keeping him long term or him taking that extension. I see him opting into that last year though.

Im a take a hard look at signing the extension...what a joke, is he saying that to make denver fans happy, should denver look at that as a plus...suppose he still says no at the EOS, then denver gets srewed.

So if im denver i'm suppose to cross my fingers and hopes he signs it...Melo is good, up the ante NY, thats what he wants, between him and amare, thats 45 touches a game..Ny needs to get rid of another scorer...up the ante walsh
