Yea so Denver will trade Melo for 2 guys they can lose this summer that they are going to have to pay. Their own teams dont want to pay them but Denver is going to pay them to be in lottery land in the west. Makes perfect sense.

Too Funny.

Bye Bye Gallo in any Melo trade.

denver can evaluate them and then sign them if they want... the key to the deal will be minny's pick which will be at the top of the lottery...

To be honest though, im not sure why Denver does this. Maybe Minny's 1st rounder is that important to them? Because Chandler is restricted and well Afflalo is better than Brewer. They also have Smith.

Either way, if its true then get this deal done!

DEN is getting Wilson, Brewer & a lottery pick for Melo... that's a very good package to get under the circumstances.

You're right, i wasn't thinking under the current circumstances. They are pretty much screwed. Cleveland got two 2nd rounders for Lebron, same with Toronto. So compared to that, this would be a much better deal for Denver.

Wilson & Brewer are both RFA's this summer but DEN will get their QO matching rights, so their bases are pretty much covered... IMO they will likely sign both those guys to extensions & JR Smith is an UFA this summer & not exactly one of Karl's favorites so my guess is he's gone after this year.

Wow, on top of what you just said, I just looked at Minnesota's record: 11-39 which is good for the 2nd pick in the draft currently. I wonder if they are sending this years pick and if it will have any sort of lotto protection. Not bad for Denver i guess.

If nothing else is added for Minny, the pick has to be protected. Don't think even Kahn would give up that high of a pick + Brewer for AR. It's not like he's a PG.

yeah i highly doubt it would be unprotected, but even still how good is Minny gonna be in the foreseeable future? that pick is likely lottery for the next several years at least... i doubt DEN would grant total lottery protection in this kind of trade if there's any truth to this report.

if DEN swings this deal maybe they trade JR Smith someplace else for another pick?

This deal seems like it works for everybody

I think it's the Knicks turn to be mentioned in trade rumors that lead to nowhere.

I'm so excited.

I think TKF has noted the fundamental flaw in this deal. If I am Denver, I am trading for two RFAs. Both of those guys can play, so Denver will want to keep them but it will be forced to pay them. The only way this deal goes through is if we offer another 1st round pick and maybe a couple of second round picks. Plus, we might have to throw TD into the deal, which would allow denver to trade Chauncey Billups and start Lawson. Either way, as long as we keep Gallo and Fields, we come out on top of the deal.

Felton, Fields, Melo, Amare, Timmy M, with Gallo on the bench backing up Melo and Amare, is a solid lineup that would be no worse than 3rd best in the East.

Maybe these are just the current players involved and we're giving up draft picks too? It's hard to imagine that this would be all we're giving up.

Aren(y you guys bothered by Dolan's involvement in that ? If he's forcing Walsh to take some action, he's giving Denver more leverage into the negociations. Things like that could take that deal to the deadline, with Denver's hoping a final push will come from Dolan so that they could receive yet an extra asset. I just HATE the fact that Dolan was mentionned in that article, I have bad feelings about that.

We can't stop Dolan from being an idiot. It is what it is.

I felt the same way when I read it. That really sticks out. I hate the idea of Dolan influencing Donnie's moves, it compromises Donnie. I trust Donnie's decision making, it's yielded great results so far.

Yup. NY is going to have to give up more than just AR, Chandler and Curry.

Papabear Says

Dolan wants Carmelo point blank! He ownes the team and i think that he is right. Things can happen this summer. The Lakers my make some changes or Dallas.Carmelo wants that money and we have to get the deal done. It's not like we are a great team now and with Carmelo coming here he will attract other good role players who just might take less to win a championship.

I think there has to be something more in it for Minnesota. I think Denver could be this desperate but if I am a GM of a big market team like the Lakers or the Bulls I think I would make a comparable offer just to have Melo for 32 games.

yea.. that seems pretty obvious when you heard the caliber of players being previously mentioned.

I would be thrilled to have Melo here for that price. Most any scenario where we keep Gallo, Fields and Mosgov. Picks, Chandler, AR, expiring contracts, Jerome Jordan, Rautins, Douglas, you get the idea.

Mosgov, Fields, Gallo along w/ Amare, Melo and Felton is a damn good start to somethig special. Need some size, keeping Williams would keep some toughness coming off the bench, and Gallo is going to have to play some 4 but he did have like 13 boards against the 76s other night

Chris Mannix on the trade link is talking about a Houston offer. I am not sure if he is just speculating or if Houston is making an offer. Names mentioned were Hill, Brooks and Yao (70% of contract paid by insurance).

I agree with the notion that another pick has to be involved. Cant see Denver, who had a deal on the table for 3 picks and a young player they coveted, to excepting 1 pick and 2 RFA's. Donnie mentioned that he could come up with two picks if need be, well might need to to get this deal done. Obviously, AR was the player who he could get 1 pick for, but I'm wondering how does he get the other?

this trade seems too good to be true. i smell a CAA leak. remember CAA led Broussard around by the nose all through the lebron talks. broussard had lebron going to chicago for sure because that's where world wide wes wanted lebron. but that's not what lebron wanted.

and something tells me this deal is not what denver wants.

Denver screweed themselves. They could have, would have, should have but didn't. The Knicks are in the drivers seat.
