Ima go wid the Barkley perspective and say that just because people may look up to Kevin or want to look up to him, he's just another overpaid athlete. He's no worse than Barkley or Lambeer, he's just getting called out on it more than they were. And from a fan perspective, I like that he's not trying to be friends with his opponents. Jordan started to befriend all of his rivals and then used that friendship against them. The hugs, sharing agents, colluding for free agency, etc., that's all crap. I like it when players from one team dislike the players on another team.

That said, it doesn't excuse crappy behavior, but if he were a Knick all these years, would this thread even exist. If it did, it would be more about we love his feistiness and be calling those criticizing him whiners. Just saying...

What's your most memorable conversation with a player during a game?
This is really surprising, and this is all true. The only time that it's ever really gotten nasty was with Reggie Miller. But we were friends before that and we've been friends since then. When I go to the games, it's to have fun. I'm respectful. If I say a player missed a shot, that's not talking about your mother, your family; it's all good nature. The players enjoy talking to me and I enjoy talking to them.

But this last time against Boston -- you know that game where they disallowed Stoudemire’s 3? -- Kevin Garnett lost it. He was cursing me out for no reason. Maybe because Stoudemire gave him 39 points, but take that vulgarity to Stoudemire. I'm not holding you and I did not even say s--- to Garnett the whole game. That really surprised me. He lost it. He was cursing at me the whole game. He needs to calm the f--- down.

I was just going to post this... crazy ish

same here. so glad Spike stood up for himself and simultaneously corroborated the overwhelming evidence that KG is just a jerk who likes to bully people.

Doc Rivers shouldn't condone playing basketball this way. KG reminds me of a talented Bruce Bowen. But man, I'm looking forward to our next game against Boston in MSG. I hope Spike makes KG go crazy

anyone watching the Heat vs. Celtics game? KG delivers a shoulder on a hard pick to demolish Mike Mill... D Wade sees that & goes right back at KG & gives him a shoulder to almost knock him off his feet... that's the way i wanna see our guys sticking up for each other when teams try & mess with us... when Amare got clotheslined by Artest i don't wanna see Shawne Williams getting his neck choked because he stepped to him, i wanna see someone knock Artest to the ground on the next possession... that's how this team is gonna win respect.

Legacy? Finish with grace? You can't finish with grace if you never had it to begin with. His legacy is that he's a scumbag.

His legacy: one of the best PFs in the NBA over the last 20 years. Just because he was a dirty player in the past doesn't mean he has to continue playing dirty. He can start making changes. Better late than never. That was all I was saying.

I don't know, man. I think his legacy as a scumbag supersedes anything he ever did on the hoops court. One could argue that he has done more damage to the game than good. His consistently base behavior betrays a contempt, a disrespect of the game of basketball, its fans, fellow players, shoot, even humanity itself.

A generation of young hoops players have been influenced for the worse by Garnett and his selfish, disgusting actions.

EXACTLY. Ask BILL LAMBeer is you don't believe it. Ask anyone about the Lambeer and all they remmeber is "he was known for being a dirty player."

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Same for Rodman. He's remembered more for being coo-coo for cocopuffs.

i think there's no one on this team w/enough cache to do what D Wade did & get away with it other than Amare... he needs to be the guy to step to guys & make sure they can't mess with our guys... until we bring in a thug to watch Amare's back, Amare's gotta be the guy to regulate.

I gotta admit it was pretty sweet to see a top superstar defend a role player, especially in this circumstance. 6-11 just got punked by 6-3. Wade is the only one of the heatles with any juevos.

On a side note, see how ready Lebron and Bosh were to get involved? I thought Miller was LBJ's boy, not Wade's!

Was Garnett called for a foul or he he get away with another cheap dirty play? The announcers (obviously Boston) said what a good hard pick Garnett set. Ha. Reminds me of what Horry did to Nash in the playoffs a few years ago.
