I was too young for 70' series but remember losing in 1972 to Lakers, waiting 18 years to lose in 1994, and the no so disappointing 1999.

I remember watching the ABA win with Dr J. in 1974 and 1976. Nets defeated Larry Browns Nuggets in game 7 after being down 20 pts. I was at the last ABA game and it was a great crowd. Knicks were Midtown and Nets were suburbs.

RJ was never that good but he got paid as if.

Personally I always root for any NY team to win if they make it and win. No biggie when the Devils win but I root for both Jets and Giants, Yanks and Mets, Isles and Rangers, and Knicks-Nets. Its good! I'll always root for Knicks to win but don't mind if the Nets succeed also.
