wow, i didnt think a silly article by berman of all people would generate this much debate. since it did, here's my two cents.....are you guys kidding me????????
mason has been given opportunities...and ALOT of money to come in here and be a pro. for him to say he didnt get a chance or opportunity yet is flat out BULL-SHIT. maybe its the fact that he cant hit a jump shot and looks like he is sleep walking during the few minutes that he does get that makes d'antoni forget who he is.
the nba is a business. to say everyone should get a shot is just rediculous. you get a shot by MAKING it into the league. then you have to prove you belong from then on to stay. the best play, b/c teams need to win above all else or else. people's jobs are at stake. what makes this more rediculous are the guaranteed contracts. if the nba were more like, let's say, the nfl, where contracts arent guaranteed for their lifetimes, we wouldnt even have to entertain such stupidiy at this level. players would be busting their asses to ensure they still got paid.
so what if mike's an ass or being smug or just joking...who cares???? at the end of the day it's about the player making enough of an impact to get playing time. im not the biggest d'antoni fan but in this case, he can say what he wants. he and DW's investment in this player from taking on the contract, through summer league and into pre-season play - that was mason's chance to make his mark that he belonged (just like AR) and he didnt....so now he sits. big f'in deal. he SHOULD sit.
stop crying and make your mark....
