Dudu makes 1.5. Think backup. He did fine but could not handle starter minutes.

How 'bout Turiaf and AR for Ryan Anderson, Daniel Orton, cash to balance out the deal and a future 1.

Orlando: Turiaf gives them the ready-now big they're after, they might prefer AR over Orton as a project (AR has the best upside out of anyone being discussed in this deal on both sides) and they'll always be a top team as long as Howard's around so that future 1 is no big deal (it'll always be low 20s regardless of year). Anderson and Orton are extra pieces for the Magic, neither contributing right now nor in that club's immediate plans in all likelihood.

Knicks: I'd hate to give up on AR but if we got back Anderson and Orton it'd be a little easier to swallow. We'd have to nurse Anderson back to health (still out with a sprained right foot--expected back in the lineup by the end of next week) but when we do we'd be getting a very good reserve PF, maybe a guy we could start alongside Amar'e. Dude can shoot it like Gallinari from distance, he's as big and he can also post up and rebound the ball very well. Still very young too - RA's only a year older than Randolph. As long as Howard and Bass (along with Turiaf as the new 3rd big) are around and that team's in win now mode, Daniel Orton will never get a chance to play there. Orton's a little green but he's got great size and girth -- dude could either turn into Jackie Butler or become something very useful--I'm leaning more toward the latter, only thing is we'd have to be patient with him. We could probably afford to wait for him a little more than the Magic could. If he's not ready for NBA action maybe we finally utilize the NBDL for a change..We'd get the extra 1st round pick that DEN may covet in a Carmelo deal.. A followup move I'd execute immediately: release Mason Jr. and sign one of the following capable bigs to take Turiaf's place: Dwayne Jones, Chris Johnson or Courtney Sims. Chris Johnson might be able to give us some of what we thought we'd be getting outta Randolph..

EDIT -- Don't think this would work -- we'd have to take back either Duhon or Q to make it work salary-cap wise and I wouldn't be willing to do that..The Magic are over the cap significantly..

I don't think Duhon brings to the team what Turiaf does. He would be a nice addition but I think the Knicks could just sign a free agent or make a smaller move. Earlier in the year Turiaf was so important to the defense. I don't think the Knicks can afford to get smaller if they are going to make any kind of a run in the playoffs.

You make this trade in a minute. The Knicks need a back up Point just as bad as they need a big in the middle. I love what Turiaf brings to the table and I would hate to see him go but he's hurt right now and that player option for next year is not good for a team that needs all the cap space they can get.

You bring Duhon in has a back up and you force MDA to do his job and focus on the bigs that he has rotting on the bench

$3.5M with minimal increases on a 4 year deal.

He has never been forced to do that part of his job since he came to NY. I don't think it is going to start now.

how about if ny fires mda and promotes his assistant coach brother to head coach. that would be pretty evil though.

maybe the less of two evils fire his brother to send mda a message, nah thats just as evil. lol.

you are not getting all that for a bit role player like Turiaf

Actually, I think ORL would do it in a second, but dont think the Knicks would. They need someone behind Bass and Howard as a big.

i don't... role playing bigs like Turiaf are readily available w/o having to give up lottery picks from last year's draft & a future protected #1... Turiaf belongs in the same regard as players like Joel Pryzbilla at this point... solid vets that can fill productive minutes for you off the bench, but not the types of players u give up any future assets for... a 2nd round pick & an expiring at best is what i can imagine any team giving up for a player like Turiaf... not to say i think he sucks, i actually like him a lot, but you have to be realistic in regards to his percieved value.

Magic are in an in-all mode right now. They dont care about future protected #1's (these are the types of picks that are sold for ~$3m, right? 25-30 range?). And I know that I am holding Earl in very low regard this year, my assumption was that PHO had already given up on him and threw him into the ORL deal as a salary dump.

So mostly ORL doesn't give a rats ass about Earl or the #1.

if you regard Earl Clark so low & want a late 1st round pick just buy one for $3M like you just alluded to... why would you give up a role player off our bench that has a real role on this team? we're thin enough on the bench as it is... if u need to cut $4M off our payroll for next season, simply cut Mozgov & Rautins, who have done nothing in their time as Knicks, or dump them for an expiring & whatever picks u can get for them... at least Turiaf is giving u something in the way of defense & shotblocking.

uh, I think you mis-reading what I am saying.... In my first response, I said that I DON'T think the Knicks would give up Turiaf but that ORL would do the deal for the reasons I outlined.

i didn't misread anything... i don't believe ORL would give up Earl Clark & a future #1 for Ronnie Turiaf... he doesn't hold that type of value.

what i'm saying is, if dumping salary is what you're after, then we should look to dump Mozgov & Rautins, because they're currently doing nothing for our franchise.

Mozgov's deal isn't guaranteed for next season - it's a team option. If they need to cut ties this summer, they can.

that would be sad to lose timo to a salary dump, i get he needs crazy glue to hold on to a ball, dont pass him the ball. mda should just have him be a bear in the game and catch opportunistic rebounds, that fields of gold might miss.
