The problem with that is yes Amare and Felton have brought us more of a swagger and a belief we can win. But that doesn't mean that another super star will automatically have a second beneficial effect. Particularly when that superstar is accustomed to taking more shots, and he also breaks up the excellent chemistry of the current Knicks.

In short, I think it is a crap shoot as to whether Melo aids team morale or weakens it. What do you think?

there are no givens in sports... trading for Melo could be a disaster or it could be the best move our franchise could possibly make... there's no way to tell unless u make the move, or don't... my guess is DW is going for it this year.

As he should...

Q. AnubusA - Is Chandler going shoot 80% from the 3 on the nightly basis?

A. Wilson Chandler is playing his way to being an NBA All Star by the time he is 25 years old

Q. AnubusA - Is Fields going to average 18 and 9 on the nightly basis?

A. Definitely.

There is no reason to assume that this will be necessarily be the case. In fact, the opposite might even be true- they may become less efficient with fewer touches.

You also face the possibility of losing the offensive flow your team has, not to mention the fact that your defense would take a hit if you give up 2 of the 3 guys people are talking about giving up.

Amare is at his worse when he is trying to create and force the issue. Having another star minimizes him having to force the issue and makes double teaming costly. Amare and Carmelo both have jumpers to keep teams honest as well. Carmelo doesnt miss many wide open shots either.

Offensive flow? Knicks are effective at giving the ball to Amare and letting him go to work.

Our defense BLOWS right now. Teams still getting into the paint at will. Yea we may get a few blocks but they usually result in a layup or a foul.

David Lee was an allstar last year. Where did his all star status take the Knicks?

Landry Fields is not a 18 and 9 player. Please man.

As I said a season is 82 games long. You role with guys who can dominate for 82 games and in the playoffs.

Dude we need Carmelo Anthony. We have Amare and Felton playing 40+ minutes a night. An NBA season is about pacing.

Guys can get up for big games. We need guys who can do is for 82 games.

Tonights game was an example of Amare and Carmelo playing each other to a stale mate and Carmelo played less minutes.

wrong. Melo went 0-6 from 3 and 11-27 overall. We won because we have a balanced scoring attack as opposed to an offense that lives and dies buy 2 players.

I agree about getting a STAR. We have one. Good enough

Carmelo put up 31 pts and grabbed 13 boards.

Amare put up 30 pts and grabbed 8 boards.

Last time I checked Denver lost by 4 points.

The Knicks supporting cast outplayed Denver's supporting cast today. Neither team played good defense.

This offense isnt balanced. We lived by the 3 tonight combined with Amare beasting. Denver penetrated and scored layups.

The Knicks have six players who have had 20 point games this season

Each one is capable of blowing up on any given night.

Stars?

We don't need no steenkin' stars!

Give me the 30 assists and only 6 turnovers and we will beat any team in the NBA.

What I saw today is the same thing I've been seeing. A really good offensive team that can't play defense:
D Lee 28 (At least we fought him TOOTH and nail)
Love 30/30 (hasn't been done since Moses Malone) Beasley 35
Ellis 40
Griffin 44 (Season High)
Lopez 36 (Season High)
Prince 31 (season High)
Love 33/15 Milicic 10pts (in 8 minutes)
Barganin 41 (career High)
Nene 26 (Tied Season High)

This team needs to improve on defense to compete in the playoffs. More hustle and smarts on defense will help but my belief is we need more size and toughness inside. Teams are going to get stops in the playoffs no matter how good your offense is and we're going to need to get stops also. Don't see how we do that after we trade for and pay Melo.

What I think we are especially going to need is that starting big man that can consistently guard the bigger centers like Nene, Bogut and all of them, because Amar'e really struggles with them. He works ultra hard on defense, but it just doesn't come easy to him. Marc Gasol would be perfect next to Amar'e and HE may be a better fit than Carmello because the way I see it, out scoring is not a problem in any form. Yeah he'll help out but if we give up everything we have for him, I think we'd be where we are now. However, if we stick with what we have, resign Wilson and find a way to get Gasol and draft wisely, I think we got outselves a contending team.

We have one guy who we KNOW will score 25 points a game. We have Wilson, Gallo, and Felton who we KNOW will also score at least 15-18 and they are capable of scoring. Going by what we've seen, one of them WILL go off along with Amar'e. Does it really matter who, as long as someone goes off?

A. Of course not. THAT is the beauty-ful thing about this squad rapidly turning into a team.

Someone 6'11 needs to check Garnett.

Knicks did come up the stops at the end of the game when they needed them. But I think there is a glaring need for another guy like Turiaf on the roster. A defensive minded big to take pressure of Stoudemire. Look at the position most of the players on your list play...

It will be interesting to see how the Knicks do against Boston and other good defensive teams. Those games are coming up in the next few weeks. They will make it clear whether we need Melo or we don't.

The same Wilson who has never been to the playoffs?

The same Felton who got destroyed by Jameer Nelson in the playoffs?

Depending on Amare to average 30 ppg for us to win is insane.

Buy low, sell high.

If you can get Melo without gutting the core, which we probably can since Donnie has all the leverage in the world right now, then I think you do it. If not, wait until the end of the season, sign him in FA, and then use some of the redundant pieces in a trade to bring in another big man.

I'm not in love with Carmelo Anthony but the guy is still a top-notch player and has never played with anyone as good as Amare Stoudemire. He isn't as efficient of an offensive player as I'd like him to be but to say he can't change is ridiculous when you consider the transformation a guy like Paul Pierce went. Getting role players that play defense is not that tough to do, getting franchise talent on the other hand, is a bit more difficult.

Melo and Amare together would be awfully tough to stop. If you can lock up two young stars long-term like that, I think you do it as long as you aren't giving up the farm.

Knicks without Carmelo = a very respectable playoff team.

Knicks with Carmemo = top 5 team in league.

How we have thread after thread after thread about us not needing this man is beyond belief.

obviously, if we traded for Melo, it'd be a situation where we would have to take a step back to take two or three steps forward. it would take another off-season, probably, to get the roster making sense with complimentary players around Amare, Melo and Felton... but if you get the right players, you are talking about a possible championship mix.

i don't want to give up the house in a melo trade. i refuse to give up Fields. I would give them ONE of gallo/chandler and AR and eddy. if they want to move AR for a first rounder, they (denver) can do it themselves.
