Camby only missed 8 games last year & hasn't missed any this year... if u think there are other guys that can get you 12 rebounds & 2 blocks a game out there, feel free to suggest them.
I dont! thats the point! Its really slim pickins when the best you can get is Camby who is a fart away from breaking a hip. It was less a knock on your suggesting then an observation on how limited the options seem. Dont be so paranoid
I thought after we got Amare a good and realistic target would be OK4. He doesnt need the ball, all his scoring is garbage points. He's got a servicable jumper and he's a top flight rebounder and defensive player. Of course it depends on the cost right? The hope is NO tanks and they want to dump his contract. I guess we wait and see.
I am more willing to suck it up this year and try to improve C next year (or just give Mos/AR/Jerome Jordan) more time to develop then I am to break up this core of 6-7 guys who are playing very well together
i've always thought OK4 would be a nice complement next to Amare too, but NOH is playing good ball these days & they aren't likely to want to break that up... if they go in the tank then who knows but my guess is they'll want to ADD to their team this year, not subtract.
a C who doesn't need the ball to contribute & plays well off the ball that won't clog up the lane for Amare is the perfect complement... other than Marcus Camby i don't see any others we can realistically target... Sammy Dalembert perhaps is another, but tell u the truth he strikes me as a low bball IQ type player that i'm not sure would be able to grasp this system all that well... on the plus side, he does have an expiring contract, so he's a low risk option if we take him on.
as for breaking up this current group, sure they're playing well now but when they're put up against the elite of the NBA during postseason play they will inevitably need upgrades at certain positions if they want to hope to compete, especially when they'll be seeing the same team night after night over a 7 game stretch, there is no taking a team by surprise... talent usually wins out in a playoff series.
we are looking the same guys...
Talent wins out in playoffs? Sometimes... for sure it does. But not unless that talent is backed with size, and you can see by this discussion along how hard size is to get, quality size that is.
Even Michael Jordan didnt win till they upgraded the froncourt. Best player ever couldnt win without the great rebounder and the big bodies
Its a deadhorse right now but if I could trade Gallo for Melo or Gallo for OK4 right now its OK4 easy.
Its also worth mentioning that Gallo/Chandler/Fields are 22ish and getting better. Thats the other part of the arguement that gets left out.
