I got sick of waiting for this fag Milos to come to NYC and McDyess to heal his knee, so if you think we gave up too much for Marbury then you need to check yourself. We didn't get rid of the future we created a new one!
Son your all wrong!
Dice has been considered the "fag", not Milos.
Many ways to build a team and be successful. MCgrady, KG, Kobe, all needed a few years to turn into superstars. Its about drafting potential. Laydog did not have the assets after trading the 7 pick, so he had to go long and incubate talent with Milos and Lampe.
You got Dolan on one side wanting full house, and then there is the logical side that prefers building. The Yanks did it, and are going away from it. But the 1998 team was primarily home grown talent.
basically, milos and lampe if they waited and were more proven could have projected to be Lottery picks. They came early as there is a market for drafting potenital.
Laydog made the mistake of trying to be financially conservitive going forward, trying to put a contender on the floor (a pretender, not contender), and build for the future by creating a pipline of talent not ready for prime time. He was not charasmatic, nor what he was doing terribley exciting either. THe buzz was lost.
If they could have gone public with a "Denver" style rebuild and sell the future, that might have worked, but as we know it can be risky, and the deep cap problems we have are not solveable short term.
The "Thomas" approach makes sense for a lot of reasons both for this situation, the deep pockets of its owners, and for the New York market.
The views by both sides are valid. There is no one right way to approach this, and its not a science.
The Rangers are set to bring in Jagr from the Caps? He is in decline and highly paid. The Rangers are bigger Star Phuchers than the Knicks. Bure, Lindros, and now Jagr? This is crazy stuff. They have not made the playoffs in 6 years! Biggest payroll in hockey and they suck.
Lets put it this way, if there is any truth about Starburys ankles (he sat out practice the other day to rest ankle) in the next few years, and for some reason he declines at age 30, and the same time milos and Lampe are coming into their own, then the trade can be viewed as negative.
Enjoy Starbury, but be concerned. The management style at Madison Square garden leaves a lot to be desired.
Personally the knicks are my favorite team, but I have been following the Grizz now two years as I like the youth movement there and Hubie Brown. I enjoy watching Jason Williams mature and Pao do well.
THis way I can enjoy a young team mature and still not get too upset over the knicks instant gradification schemes. IT is what it is, and I support the team. I root for thomas to succeed, as I rooted for Laydog to do also. Put the best product on the floor with no regard to money. yah gotta love that!
